Why do kids all over Mexico bring skeletons to schools?

Children with terribly painted faces, in bright clothes and with homemade skeletons under their arms, are heading to school … A strange sight? The thing is that yesterday in Mexico was an unusual day. Let’s talk about it in more detail.

On November 2, Mexico celebrates a special holiday – the Day of the Dead. On the streets and in the interiors you can see the corresponding paraphernalia. Parents in honor of the holiday send their children to kindergartens and schools with “corpses” – homemade skeletons and skulls. Together with teachers, students build altars for those who left our world to remember them and communicate metaphorically with death.

Although it seems a little creepy, the Mexicans have their own relationship with death, which has been entrenched since the days when they were tribal Indians and performed regular rituals of sacrifice. The people of Mexico believe that the afterlife awaits us all. So for them, death is a friend that should not be feared.

On the Day of the Dead, everyone smiles, remembers the happy moments in the lives of those who have departed to another world, arrange real carnivals. All this relieves excessive anxiety for the future, for oneself, for loved ones and, most importantly, for children.

And we should learn from them. It is extremely important to get rid of internal attachments, fears and constant concern for loved ones. What happens when you worry about someone? You only take away their energy and all the forces for self-realization.

How does this happen? Think: what do you broadcast to a person when you are worried about him? How might this affect him? What if it’s a child?

The people you care about unconsciously read the following:

  • You do not trust your loved one and do not believe that he is able to cope on his own.
  • You doubt him, which means you don’t think he’s good enough. This attitude gradually forms self-doubt and low self-esteem even in adults, to say nothing of children.

When you worry, an unpleasant emotional “aura” appears around you, due to which relationship problems, misunderstandings and conflict situations arise over time.

In addition, it is important to remember: children of anxious parents grow up neurotic. Constant discomfort and stress does not go unnoticed, especially for the child’s psyche.

If we are talking about anxiety for inanimate objects (for example, money) or for an important event, then with anxiety you “write down” only the expectation of failure in your subcortex. Is this what you want? Think: what do you bring to the world, to people, to your family, and what will you receive in accordance with this?

No wonder Mexicans play these “games.” So they learn to fully accept any events, whatever they may be, and stop sowing negativity around them. Their rituals are not about death, but about healthy relationships, peace and emotional stability. They are about life.

In fact, if you are anxious or very afraid of something, no one should suffer because of it. It is unethical to transfer your unprocessed emotions to others. It is important to shift the focus of attention to yourself and take care of your own state at the appointment with a psychotherapist.
