What to cook from chicken legs

Chicken legs are the least healthy parts of chicken (high in calories and low in protein), but the most loved and affordable. Even the most inexperienced hostesses know what can be cooked quickly and in an original way from the legs, because chicken legs are prepared quickly and everyone, without exception, can cook dishes from them. Try to choose legs without fat, with a thin skin, which is more useful to remove completely before cooking.

 

Chicken legs are the most commonly used part of chicken in cooking. They differ from chicken breast in a darker color of meat. They are stewed, fried, boiled, baked and added to salads. And for each cooking method, there are several dozen recipes. Chicken legs will diversify any table. The simplest, but no less appetizing way of cooking is considered to be baked chicken legs. Rub them abundantly with pepper and salt to taste. Then, tightly wrapped in foil, put in the oven for 25 minutes, turning over every 5 minutes. As a side dish, porridge, potatoes and other vegetables are wonderful.

Lemon chicken legs

Ingredients:

  • Chicken legs – 6 pcs.
  • Lemon – 3 pcs.
  • Chicken broth – 400 gr.
  • Cream – 700 gr.
  • Sugar – 2 st. l.
  • Parsley – for decoration
  • Salt, cayenne pepper to taste.

Rinse the legs, dry with paper towels, divide into two parts. Wash the lemons, rinse with boiling water, dry. Remove the zest from two lemons and squeeze out the juice, mix it with the zest, sugar and cayenne pepper. Put the legs in the mixture, leave for half an hour, turn once. Remove the legs, place on a wire rack and bake in an oven preheated to 200 degrees for 35 minutes. Mix the remaining marinade with broth and cream, cook over medium heat for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve the chicken legs, garnished with lemon wedges and chopped parsley, sprinkled with sauce.

Legs with tomatoes and oranges

Ingredients:

 
  • Chicken legs – 6 pcs.
  • Tomato – 7 pcs.
  • Orange – 3 pcs.
  • Onions – 2 pc.
  • Chicken broth – 100 gr.
  • Sunflower oil – 50 gr.
  • Orange juice – 3 tbsp. l.
  • Sugar – 1 st. l.
  • Parsley – 1/2 bunch
  • Salt, ground black pepper – to taste.

Rinse the legs, cut into two, pepper, salt and fry in a pan for 3-4 minutes on each side, remove and transfer to a baking dish. Fry chopped onion in the same oil for 3 minutes, add sugar and cook over low heat until sugar dissolves, pour in broth and orange juice, warm up. Peel the tomatoes, cut into quarters, peel the oranges, cut into slices, removing the inner partitions. Add oranges and tomatoes to the legs, pour over the sauce, cook in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Chicken legs breaded with chips

Ingredients:

 
  • Chicken legs – 7-8 pcs.
  • Mayonnaise – 3 tbsp. l.
  • Soy sauce – 1 tbsp. l.
  • Potato / corn chips – 1 glass
  • Chicken seasoning – to taste
  • Salt, ground black pepper – to taste.

Rinse the legs, cut into two, dry and brush with a mixture of mayonnaise and soy sauce, sprinkle with seasoning, salt and pepper. Crumble the chips, brew each leg well in chip chips. Cook on a wire rack, placing a baking sheet down, in an oven preheated to 200 degrees for 35-40 minutes.

Chicken leg dishes are perfect for any festive occasion. Simple to prepare and effective when served, chicken legs will become a decoration of the festive table on one of the days of the long New Year’s holidays, and on any other holiday.

Chicken legs stuffed with mushrooms

 

Ingredients:

  • Chicken legs – 6 pcs.
  • Champignons – 200 gr.
  • Egg – 3 pcs.
  • Cream 20% – 3 tbsp. l.
  • Sunflower oil – 1/2 cup
  • Wheat flour – 3 tbsp. l.
  • Bread crumbs – 1/2 cup
  • Ground nutmeg – pinch
  • Salt, ground black pepper – to taste.

Rinse the legs, carefully remove the skin from them, like a stocking, chop the bone near the last joint so as not to tear the skin. Separate the meat from the bones, grind with a meat grinder or blender, add one protein and cream, nutmeg, salt and pepper, mix everything well and add the chopped champignons. Stuff the skin of the legs with the resulting mixture, wrap the edges inward. Roll each leg prepared in this way in flour, then in eggs, beaten with salt and generously breaded in breadcrumbs. Fry in plenty of oil for 5 minutes on each side. Remove the legs from the pan and place in a baking dish, cook in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for 15 minutes.

Chicken legs with cheese in dough

 

Ingredients:

  • Chicken legs – 6-8 pcs.
  • Egg – 1 pcs.
  • Russian cheese – 100 gr.
  • Puff pastry – 200 gr.
  • Chicken seasoning – to taste
  • Salt, ground black pepper – to taste.

Rinse and dry the legs, divide each into two parts. Gently lift the skin and place a thin slice of cheese in each leg. Top with seasoning, salt and pepper. Roll out the dough, cut into thin strips. Arbitrarily wrap the legs with dough, place on a baking sheet, grease with a beaten egg and cook for 30-35 minutes in an oven preheated to 190 degrees.
