Fashion historian, TV presenter Alexander Vasiliev knows everything about fashion trends and fashionable female types of spring and summer 2017. How should a fashionista look today?
“Fashion today is not about beauty. And about forced modesty, – says Vasiliev. – The chest is closed, the legs are hidden, things are big, as if from someone else’s shoulder.

— Brunettes defeated the blondes. Swarthy – white-skinned. Yes, blondes are temporarily not held in high esteem. I know that nothing paints a woman like hydrogen peroxide, but for now I have to put up with it.
— Hair… The trend towards natural shades: blonde hair is more wheaty than brightly dyed. And one more thing: if earlier the hair was shiny, clean and loose, now even such shampoos are made to achieve the opposite effect. Objective: to create the effect of not clean hair, not shiny and sticky. This also fits the “refugee” style I mentioned. Unkempt hair is popular.
— Makeup – smokey ice in the style of the 70s: “disco” and all pearlescent shades. Green, blue, pearlescent lipsticks. Many did not like them, preferring matte ones, but now this is exactly what comes back from the last century. Here I must point out: yes, if you do not change, then every 25 years you are back in fashion and you are looked upon as a style icon!
— Eyebrows… There are still two popular trends in the female image: “browism” and “popism”. Lush eyebrows are the main adornment of a fashionista. Many have spent a lot of money and patience in the tattoo artist’s chair on the thin eyebrows in the middle of the forehead. Beauty is a very temporary concept. Today one is beautiful, tomorrow another. Better to get up half an hour early and color your eyebrows as needed. Don’t do anything permanent! So: today, sable is in favor of an eyebrow, eyeliner with arrows and soft lips. And if the lips are bright, then without an accent on the eyes.
– Manicure still or French – the nails are light, or dark, but short.
— Age… The type is more adult than youth. Gravitates to 50-60 years. Age is held in high esteem, although this trend is not very popular in Russia. This is, of course, due to the lack of men in our country. Christy Turlington – 48, Cindy Crawford – 51, Linda Evangelista – 51, they look like girly. But at what cost! Fashion models are quoted at any age, and you, too, will always be needed by everyone if you look good. To look good, you need to have a mirror at home, always on the floor, in order to see not only your face, but your whole self. And old age is nothing to you. Women have no age – you should never be sad about this. We all have a ticking clock, so what! In Paris, my best friend is the ballerina Ksenia Tripolitova, she is 102 years old now. When we meet, she says to me: “Sasha, did you buy me lipstick? And the blouses? And the champagne? ” Do you understand, yes? At 102, a person wants to travel, paint, change clothes and watch TV – she is interested in what is happening in the world.
You don’t have to like the style of today’s fashion. I don’t want to make you fall in love with him. But I’m telling you about it, just so you don’t say later that you weren’t in the know!
In life, a lot depends on a woman’s charisma. It is important how you will wear the item. Surely you are familiar with the ladies on whom you put on Dior – she will look like a collective farmer, and someone will wrap herself in a bag for potatoes, tie it up with a belt and look great.
My main advice to you: if someone compliments you on how good you look, say, “Thank you, I am very pleased that you liked it.”
The phrases “Oh, I bought it in the passage”, “Oh, this is such old stuff, I just got it from the mezzanine today” are prohibited. And don’t point out your flaws to anyone. Believe me, not everyone has good eyesight, and no one will see your torn button! Allow, allow yourself to praise! But never say “Thank you, I know” – it’s awful! Just a humble sweet “thank you”.
