What happens if you drink beer every day: Robertina’s experience

Scientists and nutritionists do not have a single position on beer. The generally accepted position that the belly grows fat and grows from beer has long been attacked and refuted. So, last year, scientists from the German Medical University of Erlangen-Nuremberg found that the hops, from which beer is made, contain a useful chemical compound xanthohumol and iso-alpha-bitter acids.

According to scientists, xanthohumol helps to avoid fatty hepatosis (fatty liver) and prevent scarring of organ tissue, as well as prevents the formation of cancer cells and weight gain.

A resident of the Belgian city of Meusen confirms their theory about the usefulness of beer. 97-year-old Robertina believes drinking beer is the secret of her longevity. According to Robertina, it is the daily consumption of beer that helps her to survive to that age.

Every day, the Belgian visits the local bar, where she drinks from 12 to 20 glasses of the drink. Her record is 22 glasses. Moreover, a woman has been visiting this institution since 2001 and only skips Wednesdays when the bar is closed for the weekend.

Robertina assures that beer replaces her medicine, and in the past four years she has been ill only twice.

Did you know what?

  • Beer contains a lot of potassium, folic acid, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, copper, zinc, which are necessary for the human body. In terms of the content of these substances, beer is similar to orange juice, a glass of which, drunk at breakfast, is a symbol of a healthy lifestyle.
  • Beer contains a lot of vitamins B1 and B2. Moreover, they are present in beer in a form that is well absorbed. One liter of this drink will provide 40-60% of the daily requirement for thiamine (B1) and riboflavin (B2).
  • Beer is rich in ascorbic acid, which is added to prevent oxidation processes. A liter will give a person 70% of the daily dose of vitamin C. For the daily need for nicotinic and folic acids, it is enough to drink only half a glass.
  • The citric acid in beer stimulates the formation of urine in the body and thus prevents the appearance of kidney stones.

We will remind, earlier we talked about how the monks managed to fast with beer and how the world’s first beer flight went.
