What a true vegan should give up: 10 weird things

Many products, to which we are so accustomed in everyday life, are blacklisted for true ideological fighters for animal rights.

Let us clarify once again: we are talking about vegans, that is, rigid vegetarians who choose the “vegetable path” for ethical reasons. If you are going to join their ranks, read our list of things you will have to give up. Maybe you will change your mind. After all, you will have to sacrifice not only food, clothing and footwear made of leather, fur and wool. But much more.

1. Plastic bags

No more bag of packages. In the manufacture of plastics, agents derived from animal fat are often used for strength.

2. Car tires

Some tire companies include stearic acid in their process, which is usually obtained from the stomachs of pigs, cows or sheep. Thanks to this material, the rubber retains its shape better. By the way, stearic acid is also used in the production of shoe soles.

3. Perfumery

Many fragrances use musk – a secret secreted by the glands of some animals, such as beavers, otters, and deer. This secret has a strong smell, it is credited with the properties of an aphrodisiac. In addition, the musk makes the perfume more durable.

4. Condoms

Most manufacturers use casein, a protein that is isolated from milk. It makes condoms smoother.

5. Shampoo and conditioner

Hair care products often contain lecithin, which manufacturers are even proud of. This substance is obtained from animal products: eggs, milk. But these are trifles. The basis of all soapy products – shower gel, soap, hair balm – is made on a fat basis.

6. Gelatin

There are many products based on it: jelly, some yoghurts, desserts. And get gelatin from animal bones. Ice cream, however, is already banned by vegans. But if you want fruit jelly, you will have to strain and look for agar-agar.

7. Razors

This strip on the razor, which the manufacturer calls moisturizing and which is designed to make shaving more comfortable, is usually made on the basis of glycerin. Which, as you can imagine, is derived from animal fat.

8. Nail polish

There is nothing in its composition. Carmine dye, for example, is obtained from beetles, oleic acid, which thickens varnish, from animal fats. And the metallic sheen of the coating is given by guanine, a substance obtained from fish scales.

9. Liquid crystal displays

TV, computer, tablet, smartphone – for the production of modern LCD displays you will not believe cholesterol. Get it, as you know, only from animal sources.

10. Toothpaste

She and I have already become almost akin, but if we become a vegan, then give up her too. The fact is that the toothpaste contains glycerin, which prevents it from drying out. And there is no guarantee that it is not derived from animal fats.
