Vibrant Workout

Very often on television and on the Internet you can meet advertisements for another, very “effective” training equipment. A characteristic feature of these ads is that in each of them there is a slogan saying that 3-4 training on their device in a week. Interestingly, according to these ads, during training on promoted device We won’t even sweat. However, the greatest hypocrisy of the creators of such ads is that they hire people who are great to promote their products look they owe it to hard work in the gym and treadmill, not to using their invention. In this article, I will try to answer the question of whether the use of vibration platform it may actually bring some tangible benefits.

What are vibrations?

Vibrations we call the mechanical stimulus responsible for transmitting the oscillatory motion. Its intensity is determined by two physical parameters – amplitude and frequency. The amplitude is called the range vibrating motion (swing from the center line) expressed as a unit of distance (in most cases in millimeters). In turn, for frequency the number of cycles (full strokes) per unit time is considered. The unit of frequency is Hertz (Hz).

Types of vibration training

As with other workouts, also in vibration training there are various methods of its application.

  • Indirect method – in this method Vibrations they first spread from the vibrating device to the parts of the body in direct contact with the device (legs or arms), and then spread to muscles located in other parts of the body. In the indirect method of application vibration so-called vibration platforms are used in training. Training during which the trainee is on vibration platform he is called whole body vibration (WBV). In turn, for strength exercises supported by vibrations, the name is used superimposed vibration.
  • Direct method – in this method, vibrations are transferred directly onto the abdomen of the muscle or tendons through a device with a vibrating head. This method of application vibration in training it is calledfocal vibration.

The effect of vibration on the body

Correctly selected and optimally dosed vibration lead in the human body to a number of positive changes. The most important of them occur within the locomotor system, in particular in muscles. On the basis of the conducted research, it was observed that the use of vibration exercises in training results in an increase in the maximum muscle strength.  In addition to the increase in maximum strength under the influence of vibration training, there is also an increase maximum power muscles. Vibration exercise has also been observed to increase levels flexibility. In addition, vibration training performed on a vibration platform results in increased volume and flow blood in the muscles of the thighs and calves. It should also be noted that in people subjected to vibration exercises, an increase in the concentration of such in the blood was observed hormones like testosterone and growth hormone. Interestingly, the registered changes are remarkably similar to those that take place under the influence strength exercises.

Contraindications

As with any training method, and in the case of vibration training there are contraindications to its use. These include, inter alia:

  • pregnancy,
  • epilepsy,
  • tumors,
  • hypertension,
  • heart arrhythmia,
  • coronary heart disease,
  • advanced diabetes,
  • blood vessel diseases,
  • inserted implants (e.g. hip endoprosthesis).

Vibrate, but in moderation

By exercising vibration exercises it should be remembered that knowledge about their impact on the human body is still relatively small. Therefore, vibration training in no way can form the main training method. In addition, it should be remembered that vibration exercises can only be performed with appropriate equipment Certificates. This is very important as too low an intensity (below 20Hz) can damage internal organs. It is also worth noting that at the moment the only form of using vibration is harmlessness on the human body has been scientifically confirmed, there is a direct method – focal vibration.
