Allergy is a worrisome word for any young mother. But as it turned out, some types of allergic reactions in babies can be prevented. Moreover, the most simple and non-obvious methods!

Red cheeks, rash, itching – such symptoms in babies immediately cause panic in young mothers. This is because allergies in children are much more common and more serious than in adults. And sometimes it is extremely difficult to understand what exactly caused the unpleasant symptoms, because of which the baby becomes restless and capricious.

Most often, an allergic reaction occurs due to new foods in the infant’s diet – or the mother’s inappropriate nutrition if she continues to breastfeed.

Pets or plants can be another cause. However, it is worth knowing about the non-obvious factors of unpleasant symptoms – and not immediately deny yourself and your child a varied diet or even give your beloved pet for overexposure.

Scientists have been researching the issue of childhood allergies for a long time. And we were surprised to find that you can provoke it even when you, on the contrary, act in measures to prevent such a manifestation!

So, judging by the latest studies, which involved almost one and a half thousand babies at the age of three, six months and a year, care cosmetics for the smallest may not protect the skin from irritation, but, on the contrary, become a source of its stronger manifestation. Especially when it comes to children who have already been diagnosed with atopic dermatitis – that is, precisely allergic skin inflammation.

It is generally accepted that with atopic dermatitis, you need to regularly apply emollients – cosmetic products aimed immediately at nourishing, softening, moisturizing and protecting the skin.

“The need to use creams has more than just a cosmetic effect. The point is that our skin is a natural barrier. And if it is dry and damaged, it will be easier for harmful microorganisms from the outside to enter the body, ”explains pediatrician, candidate of medical sciences Alevtina Durmashkina.

However, researchers now believe that overuse of emollients can be detrimental to children’s skin and trigger allergies. At least because they do not always help to strengthen the immune system of the skin – and sometimes they contain substances that can provoke other dermatological problems.

However, immediately giving up baby creams is not the best option, even if you are ready to go for it. Just remember about the sense of proportion and watch how cosmetic products affect the condition of your child. And, of course, pay special attention to its choice, discarding dubious ingredients.

In addition, do not forget about a much more important rule – try to wash your hands as often as possible when in contact with a child.

“The transmission of allergens from the hands of parents to the skin of a child can become a very likely mechanism for the development of allergies. For example, applying a cream to your baby, you can “imprint” irritants into the integument. Therefore, first of all, you should always remember about your hygiene – and, of course, try to keep track of, after which the baby will develop unpleasant symptoms, ”explains pediatrician Alevtina Durmashkina, Candidate of Medical Sciences.
