Allergy to food or sun rays can provoke the appearance of swelling on the lips. In addition, it can appear from a blow or other damage, for example, after an appointment with a dentist. Often, lip lumps are caused by herpes or cancer. For each case, different methods are needed to relieve swelling. It is necessary to carry out treatment in strict accordance with the instructions of a specialist.

Most often, cancer affects the lower lip. At risk are smokers with long experience and people over 55 years old. Not less often, the disease also affects those who often like to be in the bright sun. Oncology can develop even after mechanical injury, as well as a chronic inflammatory process. Doctors note that this disease is completely curable. If you turn to specialists at stages 1-2, you can get rid of cancer forever, late forecasts are not so rosy, but still quite optimistic.

Treatment of lip tumors cannot be carried out on their own, without finding out the causes of the ailment.

The method of oncology treatment will depend on the stage of the disease, the area of its distribution, as well as the presence of other diseases in the patient.

Surgical intervention, as a result of which the lower jaw is partially or completely removed, is extremely rare. The reason may be the growth of a tumor to the tissues of the oral cavity, for example.

The most common treatment for swelling is radiation therapy. But it has its own contraindications: as a result, hair may fall out, a burn may appear on the face, the skin will peel off, etc. The cryogenic method is used only if the patient does not have metastases. I use chemotherapy only at the fourth stage. In any case, therapy is prescribed based on the current state of the patient and the stage of the oncological disease.

Treatment of lip swelling due to trauma

Swelling of the mucous membrane of the lip or swelling very quickly can provoke a mechanical shock or bite. Specialists in such cases diagnose a hematoma. At the site of injury, soreness occurs, as well as a feeling of bursting of the damaged area. The patient is advised to apply cold compresses to the lips 2-4 times a day for 5-7 minutes, depending on the symptoms and size of the tumor. You can use badyagi powder or gel, which is sold in pharmacies without a prescription. Well removes symptoms and castor oil.

Physiotherapeutic procedures, paraffin therapy, UV irradiation are also effective.

In the case when pus is released from the tumor, surgical intervention is performed. This treatment is also necessary in the formation of a scar or calcification of a hematoma, since such pathological processes can disrupt the normal functioning of the lips and oral cavity. If the hematoma does not resolve, you can do a puncture with an antibiotic solution.

Hematoma treatment can also be carried out using folk methods, for example, applying cabbage leaves, aloe, a mixture of wormwood and honey, potato starch.

Therapy for tumors caused by allergies, herpes or cysts

A swelling on the lip may be due to allergies to the sun or certain foods, or local medications. In this case, it is necessary to exclude the source of the onset of the disease, and then take antihistamines. Before starting treatment, it is imperative to consult a doctor in order to find out the cause of the disease and receive recommendations for treatment.

Sometimes swelling provokes herpes, it manifests itself in the form of ulcers or small tumors on the mucous membrane of the lips or gums.

For treatment, ointments are used, tablets, for example, “Acyclovir” and “Gerpivir”, effectively relieves swelling and syntamycin ointment

Benign growths also often affect the lip area. Usually these are elastic retention cysts of the mucous glands, which resemble balls with a diameter of no more than 2-3 cm. Changes in blood vessels can cause the formation of hemangiomas, and lymphatic – lymphangiomas. The mucous membrane can be affected by papillomas and fibromas. In this case, local treatment is carried out, necessarily with the use of drugs and physiotherapy. In case of complications and neglect, laser therapy is recommended. Surgical intervention is practically not resorted to, but if it becomes necessary, the patient is admitted to the hospital. And after the operation, medications are prescribed that will help to avoid relapses in the future.
