Tomato Tarasenko is represented by several hybrid varieties. The plants are tall and yield good yields. The variety was bred by Feodosiy Tarasenko as a result of crossing San Morzano with other species.
Description of tomato Tarasenko
There are over 50 varieties of this hybrid. All plants are tall. The most popular varieties are Tarasenko No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6, as well as Tarasenko Yubileiny and Polessky giant.
Tarasenko tomato fruits of universal purpose
Plants reach a height of 2,5-3 m, so they need to be tied to a support before flowering. The stem is powerful, but it can break during the harvest.
The clusters contain a large number of tomatoes, up to 30 fruits. The first bunches can weigh up to 3 kg. They need to be tied up, otherwise they will break off.
Characteristics of tomatoes:
- fruits weighing 100-150 g, up to 7 cm in diameter;
- rounded tomatoes with a spout, red;
- the skin is smooth, the flesh is fleshy, there are no voids;
- tomatoes are stored for 1-1,5 months.
The Tarasenko variety is mid-season. The crop can be harvested 118-120 days after sowing the seeds. Fruiting is stretched, the fruits ripen until autumn frosts.
The variety has an average resistance to violent leaf blight and late blight, but this disadvantage is outweighed by the advantages of Tarasenko. The fruits are appreciated for their high taste and good transportability. The yield of the variety is from 8 to 25 kg per bush.
How to grow a tomato variety Tarasenko
Consider the following when growing this variety.
- A lot of flowers are tied on the culture, which should not be removed. If you provide the plant with the necessary amount of nutrients, then all the tomatoes will ripen.
- You can limit the crop in growth by pinching the top at a height of 1,7 m, but then the yield will be lower.
- Due to the large number of tomatoes on the stems, they ripen unevenly. To harvest the maximum yield, the fruits must be removed unripe. They will ripen in a dry, dark place.
- Be sure to pinch. The greatest amount of harvest can be harvested if only 2-3 stems are left on the bush.
- Tarasenko has a powerful root system, so the soil must be fertile. You need to fertilize the soil in the fall, for 1 sq. m of the plot, add 10 kg of humus, 100 g of mineral fertilizer and 150 g of wood ash.
If it often rains in summer, then the bushes need to be sprayed with a 1% solution of Bordeaux mixture.
Tarasenko tomatoes can be used to make fresh salads, sauces and tomato paste for the winter. The fruits are ideal for whole-fruit preservation, since they retain their shape well, but for the juice it is better to choose a different variety.
