Toilet ear

The purpose of the procedure is to remove pus from the external auditory canal.

How to toilet the ears

The doctor sits the patient on a chair, then puts on a frontal reflector, wraps cotton wool around the probe and pulls the patient’s ear up and back (in children – down and back) to align the ear canal.

Then, under visual control, a probe is inserted into the ear canal and, turning it clockwise, collects pathological contents from the walls of the ear canal. After this, the contaminated cotton wool is removed and the procedure is repeated using clean cotton wool.

The manipulation is completed when the external auditory canal becomes dry and clean.
