Things that should never be kept at home

Feng Shui adherents say that until you get the old out of sight, nothing new will appear in your house. And you can not count on prosperity. If you did not have time to throw the trash out of the house before the New Year, then you have a second chance.

Old New Year is a tradition that exists not only in our country. The holiday is celebrated in the former Soviet republics, as well as in Montenegro, Japan, Serbia, Algeria, Morocco and – all of a sudden! – in Switzerland. The signs that operate on a regular New Year work on this day. One of the most important is getting rid of unnecessary trash. It is not worth doing this on the New Year itself, but on the eve you definitely need to carry out a general cleaning and throw away everything, everything, everything superfluous.

Here’s the truth: there is still a lot of things that do not look very good, but at the very least work, there is no need to buy new ones. And you don’t have to try to make money on them either. Therefore, there will never be prosperity in the house.

Even if you do not believe in feng shui, you are unlikely to argue with the fact that a house, where a lot of rubbish is falling out of every corner, looks untidy. Well, the best way to get rid of unnecessary things is to be ruthless and throw them away right away.

1. Magazines

And also newspapers, calendars, booklets, catalogs. You are unlikely to revisit bright pictures of gloss over and over again on long winter evenings. A newspaper is such a thing that lives one day. And the calendar? You won’t wait another seven years until the numbers coincide with the days of the week, will you? Booklets and catalogs are generally the most useless thing in the Internet age. As well as magazines with completely outdated patterns. You won’t sew this dress anymore, accept it.

2. Wallets and wallets

Which you don’t use, of course. Why set aside space for them in the drawer, if they have already outlived their days. And even if the memories of how you put a huge salary there are associated with the wallet, throw it away anyway.

3. Old cosmetics

Eye shadow lasts a maximum of two years. The same amount is taken away for a century of lipstick. At the same time, according to statistics, all these beautiful things can lie in a cosmetic bag for decades. At the same time, it becomes a breeding ground for bacteria, a source of allergies, and simply losing its properties: they roll down, lubricate, crumble. Throw away – along with dried nail polish, old brushes, unnecessary hair accessories, and stretched elastic bands.

4. Checks and invoices

Dig through your purse and your bills drawer. Surely there are a lot of checks there that you don’t need at all. For example, the warranty period for a purchase has expired. Or absent altogether. By the way, the checks may contain information about your bank card, which can be used by fraudsters. Therefore, it is worth getting rid of these documents immediately. Well, or keep at home.

5. Stretched swimsuit

Yes, it was beautiful, you shone in it on the beach. And now he is “tired”, stretched out and no longer so fervent. Throw it out. Together with the same retirement bras, panties that have already begun to lose color. There is no place for trash in the underwear drawer, not only because it is ugly, but also because bacteria begin to settle and multiply in old panties.

6. Medicines and vitamins

Expiration date out? Into the trash heap. It doesn’t matter that it’s only a week overdue. Any medicine can turn into poison, especially if it is not stored properly.

7. Postcards

Keep postcards – if only from super-mega-memorable travels or from super-mega-dear people. And the postcard that you congratulated at work or that the bank sent by mail, hoping to dissolve you for credit, is rubbish.

8. Old electronics

A player you don’t use, old cables, DVDs and CDs (discs) or even, God forbid, floppy disks are hopeless anachronisms. The same goes for kitchen gadgets that have been broken for a long time, and you know, deep down, that you will never fix them.

9. Chipped dishes

It’s just bad form. As well as assorted plates, which are clearly not part of one style, but just a set of “whatever you have to”. An old meat grinder that no one uses. A potato pusher, a set for making pasties and other nonsense of an unclear purpose. If you do not use it, throw it away.

10. Things that have seen better days

You have kept that sweater since your student days, this shirt has not been worn for a good couple of seasons, but the T-shirt is good for everyone, but the stain cannot be washed off. Pack in a bag along with the shoes you’ve been ignoring for more than a season, and out of sight, out of the house. If you are sorry to throw it away, you can always give it to the poor. In many cities, shopping centers even have special containers for collecting used clothes.

11. Boxes and wrapping paper

Home appliance sellers insist that you keep the packaging until the warranty period of your purchase expires. They are disingenuous: according to the law, you only need to keep the check. The rest is in the trash. And the wrapping paper there too. Yes, and beautiful too.

12. Old towels

Holes, spots – all this will not decorate your kitchen in any way. In addition, bacteria love to settle on towels. Therefore, it is better to change kitchen rags and dish towels more often.

13. Tights with puffs

First, they take up space. Secondly, they create the illusion that you still have a lot of tights. But in fact it turns out that there is nothing to wear with a skirt and shoes. Arrows, holes – except for jeans and boots. You don’t have to carry trash, you deserve the best. This also applies to leaky socks. After all, you and I know that it will not come to repair.

14. Clothes that don’t fit well

Well, this sometimes happens to everyone: they bought it, and then they realized that it was frowning over there, and here the barrel was hanging down. Leaving such things in the hope that you will someday lose weight is a bad idea. Every time it catches your eye, the thing will remind you that the extra grams are still with you. And it takes place. Give it to someone along with uncomfortable shoes.

15. Notebooks with lectures

Yes, you put tons of labor into them, dozens of man-hours. But you will never need them again. One can be left for the edification of posterity – here, they say, look how we plowed in pairs! And all the rest away, there is nothing to collect dust.

16. Containers without lids

Has the thing ceased to be functional? Hence, it must be thrown out. All these variegated lids “from nothing” and “suddenly come in handy”, containers that have nothing to close, why do you need it?

17. Glass jars

Unless, of course, you are a fan of home canning. However, in most cases, this container is just uselessly gathering dust on the shelves. Think, maybe it would also be worth it to be attached to someone who needs them more than you. Or even hand over to a glass collection point.

18. Old pillows

Firstly, it is uncomfortable to sleep on old crumpled and flattened pillows. Secondly, all things sooner or later become obsolete. In the once beloved pillow, bacteria of the most different kinds have long frolicked. After all, you are unlikely to wash it every week. Buy a new one, treat yourself. And by the way, did you know that one person cannot sleep on two pillows?

19. Written notepads

Or just notepads if you don’t use them. And also broken pens, dry markers, notes. We all sin sometimes by bringing home an advertising “handout”. These are just notebooks and other office supplies. And it’s a pity to throw it away, and it doesn’t work. So pity must be discarded.

20. Jewelry

It’s not about family diamonds, of course. An old bracelet with a broken lock, a chain or brooch touched by rust, unpaired earrings … If you don’t have a hobby where you can adapt all this, then there is nothing to keep such stuff. It will never come in handy.

21. Buttons and ribbons

A box with handicraft accessories should be in every home. Threads, needles, scissors, pins – all of these are definitely useful things. But a handful of indistinct buttons, scraps of tape, old zippers and other nonsense should go to the trash, bypassing this very box.

22. Bad gifts

And it’s a pity to throw it away, and it takes a place – this is just about them. It so happens that we are given things for the house that categorically do not fit into the interior, and indeed against your taste. For example, a collection of nesting dolls for spices. Or soft toys. One day you have to gather your courage and part with all these unnecessary things.

23. Specific gadgets

They usually nest in the kitchen: yogurt makers, egg cutters, juicers and other gizmos that have only one function. Almost any of them can be replaced by a multicooker and a blender. As a last resort, a food processor.

24. Bottle caps

Some even collect their collections by stacking corks in a glass vase. But, to be honest, the aesthetics of such a collection is highly questionable, even when it comes to valuable wines brought from travels dear to the heart.

25. Children’s diaries

The diary is valuable only at the moment when you write it. There is no point in rereading it – psychologists say that this is how we waste energy on re-living the past. And it would be worth investing these forces in shaping the future.

By the way

What to do in the old New Year

There is an old tradition of making dumplings on this holiday. Try it, you will definitely like it! After all, this is a great way to spend time with the whole family – to chat while doing common business. Dumplings, by the way, should be a surprise. Surprises are unexpected fillings that work like fortune cookies. Sugar, for example, promises a sweet life, pepper promises thrills, dill promises health. Coin, of course, to wealth. But we would not recommend putting it in a dumpling. Firstly, it is unhygienic, and secondly, it is fraught with dental problems.

In addition, on the night of January 13-14, it was customary to carol, and on the morning of the 14th – to sow. That is, to go to the homes of loved ones and “sow” grain in the home. They say that they bring happiness to the house. But a man must certainly sow. A girl, if you believe you will (disgusting sexism, by the way), can not bring happiness.
