The Gastronomic Miniature meets in Valladolid

The great moment of Valladolid has arrived, where the tapas and pinchos from all the autonomous communities go hand in hand with the catering establishments throughout the city.

During the next days 9 to 15 November, the XI National Competition of Pinchos and Tapas.

La Spanish cuisine in every rule, it meets in the capital of Pucelana, to continue raising the creative activity of our chefs, to the top of the international culinary scene.

The contest brings together the finalists of the different competitions that have been held throughout the national scene in the last year, and the active tapas specialists of any establishment that wants to offer their ingenuity and culinary skills.

A professional jury, as in previous editions of the Valladolid national pinchos and tapas contest, made up of 17 gastronomic delegates from each autonomous community, has already selected the bites that the different specialists from the country’s bars have created for the occasion. .

Now for this final phase, only 7 prestigious professionals of the culinary art will be the ones who, under the umbrella of the millennium dome, will decide who will win.

The difficulty will surely lie in the ability of the contestants to overcome the excellent elaboration of the winner of the last edition, Iñaky Rodrigo Rojas y Barnacle and foie trompe l’oeil.

The prize of this new edition does not change, the winner awaits the check of € 6.000 for perfectly merging the criteria of the qualities of the ingredients, the culinary concept, their cost and above all their originality and creativity in the preparation.

And for the rest, there will be two awards to 2 runners-up and three explicit recognitions for the best cover concept, the most traditional cover and the most avant-garde cover. 

There is nothing left to enjoy this explosion of culinary ingenuity like a real showcooking, they will have to elaborate their creations before the jury of the event, live and direct.

For the rest of the lovers of gastronomic miniatures, The city’s hospitality establishments await us, acting as godparents and hosting replicas of the finalist tapas in their display cabinets to be consumed.

Cooking schools also make Tapas

In parallel, a unique contest is held in our country that brings together the future of our kitchens, in the International Tapas Competition of Cooking Schools of the World.

During the days 9, 10 and 11 of November, the Twelve candidates for teacher will compete in this Seventh edition, representing their respective countries in this prestigious contest, which since the organization of the ICEX (Spain Exports and Investments) and the Valladolid International Cooking School, They have been developing an excellent training program for candidates in Spanish gastronomy.

Candidates for the contest award have come from the US, Canada, Mexico, China, Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, Denmark, Ireland and the United Kingdom and above all contribute their creativity and good practices in the preparation of tapas and skewers.

Mr. Rafael Ansón, President of the Royal Academy of Gastronomy, will preside over the jury that will evaluate the young chefs from the different international schools, who will fight not only for their award, but also for the prestigious jacket designed by Devota and Lomba.

The organization of both contests is the responsibility of the Valladolid City Council, that together with the Provincial Association of Hospitality Entrepreneurs,  the city’s Cooking School and the Gastronomicom Communication Agency make it possible to hold this magnificent gastronomic event every year.
