The Child Family card

The Child Family card: reductions at the SNCF

The Child Family card scheme ended on August 29, 2014. Set up at the request of the State 5 years ago, this aid to low-income families for train travel has not been renewed. The reason? A financial withdrawal from the government, which notes that “95% of families do not renew their application after 3 years”. In addition, the card was not usable on TER journeys, favored by families for short trips in the provinces, according to the Secretary of State for the Family. But the State is still committed to SNCF journeys. Thus, from the 3rd child, families can benefit from the large family card.

However, for people who have a valid card, the benefits last until their offer expires. If the card has been ordered before August 29, 2014, future members benefit from 2 months to provide the documents of their file and rwill receive the card and its advantages for a period of 3 years. Then, impossible to renew it.

Family Child Card: terms of use

For those who have a valid card, the conditions of use are always the same as before the end of the device. In fact, the latter is still viable three years for all those who ordered the card before August 29, 2014. Children can travel at reduced rates without conditions (alone or accompanied). The parent who wishes to benefit from these reductions must imperatively travel with one of the children who has a card.

Map allows you to benefit from reductions on trains with compulsory reservation:

  • for children from 4 to less than 12 years old : 50% of the adult ticket (after reduction)
