Terry begonia ever flowering, care

The ever-flowering terry begonia is an unpretentious flower, which, however, is picky about certain environmental conditions. If you follow them, it will decorate any room with bright large flowers all year round.

Begonia is a houseplant with juicy green leaves. It has large flowers of various shades with double petals.

Terry begonia loves moist air

This plant blooms all year round, its leaves do not die off for the winter, for which the people called it “girlish beauty”. Begonia with double petals can grow in the form of a bush or have long hanging stems – ampelous form. Hanging pots with ampel begonias decorate the room.

If you want to prolong the flowering of begonia, you need to properly care for it. She needs the following conditions:

  • Temperature conditions. In summer, the optimum temperature for a plant is +20 –25 ° C, and in winter +18 –20 ° C.
  • Lighting. It is a thermophilic plant, but bright light and direct sunlight are harmful to it. In order for the begonia to grow properly, it must be periodically turned relative to the sun.
  • Humidity and watering. The flower loves high humidity indoors, but water should not get on the begonia leaves. Because of this, brown spots appear on the leaves. It should be watered abundantly in the spring and summer, and moderately in the winter. The water must be settled.
  • The soil. The flower is suitable for fertile, loose soil, enriched with humus. And the excess moisture is well taken up by the pebbles dropped to the bottom of the pot.
  • Tara. Clay or ceramic pots with small holes at the bottom are best for planting begonias. The holes allow excess water to drain out, and thanks to the porous walls, the begonia roots will breathe.
  • Fertilizer. In order for begonia to bloom magnificently, mineral fertilizers must be added to the soil every week.
  • Pruning. This improves flowering, the plant rejuvenates, and the decorative bush is given a neat shape. Long side branches should only be cut with a sharp knife. And lubricate the cut sites with crushed coal for quick healing.
  • Transfer. If the roots of the plant begin to look out of the pot from above or from the hole for the outflow of water, then the pot has become small for him. And the flower needs a transplant. It is necessary to replant begonia in the spring. A young flower should be transplanted every year, and an older one every 2-3 years.

Begonia is a delicate plant that needs care. But for the attention shown to it, it rewards with lush and bright flowering.

Terry begonia requires constant care. But, fulfilling her simple requirements and providing her with the necessary environmental conditions, you can admire the numerous flowers all year round.
