Soothing drugs for nursing mothers: is it possible or not? Video

Some women after childbirth are faced with hormonal changes that cause changes in the nervous system. A young mother becomes irritable, nervous, whiny and cannot do anything about it. The accompanying insomnia due to the crying of the child completes the picture. Is it possible to take sedative preparations and not harm the baby?

Naturally, drugs such as “Afobazol”, “Novopassit”, “Persen” and antidepressants are highly undesirable to take. It is not known how the baby will react to foreign substances in the mother’s milk. A sedative such as tableted valerian is acceptable, but the effect is usually not immediate.

If you drink three tablets a day for three months, the remedy will accumulate in the body and begin to work.

The same goes for motherwort extract tablets. However, if pharmaceutical preparations do not help you, you can skip using them, but switch to natural herbs such as valerian and motherwort. Freshly brewed infusions will do much more good, improve sleep and soothe shattered nerves. Herbal tea with lemon balm and mint leaves will give a similar effect, but it is not recommended to abuse such tea, as well as infusions – they can significantly reduce the production of breast milk.

If the previous options have not had a positive effect, try drinking glycine tablets, which will relieve stress from the overworked nervous system. On glycine, the list of approved sedatives for nursing mothers ends. Now you will have to use other methods of calming.

In the first place, don’t take the full load on yourself. If you have a husband or close relatives whom you can entrust your baby to, ask them for help. While your child is being supervised, take a soothing bubble bath, light a scented candle or essential oil lamp, play some soft music, and try to relax. Chamomile, sandalwood, lavender, rose, fennel, tangerine, patchouli or neroli oils are ideal for you.

Most often, women who have given birth do not sleep well and are quickly irritated precisely from fatigue and lack of positive impressions.

Try to relax even while walking with your child – while he sleeps, concentrate on the beauty of the world around him, take a deep breath of fresh air, read a book while sitting on a bench in the park. You can also set aside one day for the preparation of semi-finished products and other products for a week in advance, so as not to do this every day and unload yourself a little from everyday life. If all else fails, see your doctor who will prescribe harmless homeopathic remedies for you.
