Skin cancer – Our doctor’s opinion

Skin cancer – Our doctor’s opinion

As part of its quality approach, Passeportsanté.net invites you to discover the opinion of a health professional. Dr Jacques Allard, general practitioner, gives you his opinion on the skin cancer :

Of course, nowadays everyone knows that exposure to ultraviolet rays is the main cause of skin cancer.

I would like to stress that the risks are cumulative throughout life and that people who have already suffered serious Sun burn (with blisters) during their childhood or adolescence are significantly more at risk of later developing melanoma. Inasmuch as parents, it is therefore imperative that we protect our children adequately.

We also know that melanomas, in particular, can appear on skin not exposed to the sun. I therefore advise you to be attentive to changes in your skin, to any new lesion suspicious color, any lesion that does not heal, and any symptoms described in the Symptoms section. If you are concerned about an injury, do not hesitate to consult your doctor.
