Sheridans: what is it + how to drink black and white liquor

Sheridans – one of the youngest alcoholic drinks on earth. The liqueur originated in Ireland in the mid-90s. It consists of ingredients such as whiskey, cream, vanilla flavor, chocolate, coffee and of course sugar. The strength of the liquor is 15,5 degrees.

About Sheridans liqueur

This drink grew out of a local tradition associated with the creation of milk and cream liqueurs. But despite its patriarchal roots, it is an undeniable innovation in the world of alcohol. It’s all about its packaging. This drink is sold in bottles consisting of two isolated compartments. One of them contains cream liqueur, the other contains chocolate-coffee or berry liqueur.

The mentioned drinks are poured through separate holes located in the neck of the bottle. At the same time, the density of drinks, the shape of the vessel containing them and the diameter of the holes are calibrated in such a way that in the same period of time, twice as much coffee-chocolate mixture is poured out of the bottle than cream-vanilla. Consider several options for how to drink Sheridans liqueur.

Sheridans in its purest form

In its pure form, Sheridans (Sheridans) is drunk from small glasses, with a volume of 40 to 60 milliliters. At the moment, there are 2 methods of drinking Sheridans liqueur.

The first of them, which maximally corresponds to the essence of the drink, involves serving it in the form of a layered shot. Liquor is poured into the glass in layers so that its dark layer is on the bottom. To this end, the glass is tilted at an angle of 45 degrees, and the drink is poured in a thin stream along the wall of the glass. At the same time, the compartment with the chocolate-coffee or berry component of the liquor should be on top. A 90% filled container is leveled and, after taking the layers of a horizontal position, it is drunk without snacks in one gulp or through a straw. In the latter case, you should start from the bottom layer.

The second method involves the use of a drink in a mixed form. That is, after filling the glass, its contents should be shaken. If you want to cool the drink, an ice cube is placed on the bottom of an empty container. The blended liquor is savored in small sips and eaten with soft sweet pastries or ice cream.

Sheridans with other drinks

Like many other liqueurs, this Irish drink goes well with black tea, hot chocolate and, of course, coffee. At the same time, if you decide to add this very sweet liquor to a hot drink, you can safely save on sugar.

Also, many had time to evaluate Sheridans as part of various cocktails. Among them we can mention: “Light Storm” and “Creamy Paradise”.

But mixing Sheridans with sour or sweet and sour juices is highly undesirable. The cream contained in it instantly curdles at the slightest contact. The liquor also reacts very painfully to attempts to combine it with any carbonated drinks.
