Roseola infantum (6th disease)

What is roseola infantum?

La infantile roseola should be distinguished from roseola in adults (eruption non-febrile in adults which can be seen especially in cases of syphilis, a Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD)). Roseola infantum is still called 6st disease or sudden exanthema. It is a disease of early childhood, most often benign and healing in a few days.

Roseola is caused by a virus from the group of herpes viridae, HHV 6.
