The name itself – Provence – sends us to the south of France, to the land of lavender fields, silvery green olives, rocks, sun and sea. It was here that the recipes for laundry soap, Provencal mayonnaise and the unique style of the interior, which spread throughout Europe in the XNUMXth century, were born. Provence still attracts with its simplicity, discreet beauty and charm of antiquity. This is one of the most “cozy” and “home” styles, in some way country, but with an imperceptible dose of French grace.

Color spectrum
The color scheme of the interior is pastel with bright color accents. If you are not very fond of whitewashed walls, you can choose a pastel shade of terracotta, green or blue. In any case, the colors should be, as it were, diluted with white. Brighter furniture should stand out against the pale plastered walls.
Stone floor
The classic Provencal interior has a massive stone floor, but in an ordinary apartment you can get by with large terracotta tiles.

The furniture is minimal and very functional. The Provence style is characterized by squat rectangular cabinets, showcases, dressers and sideboards, wide benches, wooden tables and chairs. All furniture, including kitchen facades, is most often painted blue, green or terracotta. The doors are often decorated with delicate floral painting. But the most important thing is that all things look pretty old: the doors are eaten away by a bug, a tree peeps out from under the peeling paint, and cracks run across the tabletop. Bright homespun textiles
The most popular is the floral pattern: small and large flowers “bloom” on summer chintz curtains and a winter quilt. In addition, Provence loves a cage, red and white or white and blue. Chairs may have linen covers, and the floor may have homespun woolen rugs (most often striped).
Artificially aged furniture, like antique furniture, needs careful handling and care. It can only be wiped with a mild soapy solution, immediately removing the remaining moisture with a dry cloth. The polish is unacceptable – the glossy shine is from a completely different “opera”.
Country house in Provence style
The Provence style will organically fit into the interior of a country house. A fireplace with a wooden or stone facade, ceiling beams that have darkened with time, rough uneven plaster with exposed brick or masonry in some places is required. Wooden shelves in niches. And on everything – the stamp of antiquity. Cypresses, green walls entwined with wild grapes and ivy, pots of heather and lavender will help to create a traditional Provencal courtyard. And don’t forget the wooden table and chairs.
Provencal cuisine
Warm pastel colors. Plastered walls in beige or terracotta color. If desired, wallpaper will help create an imitation of brickwork. The facades of the kitchen are made of painted wood in green, blue or terracotta with signs of aging and floral designs on the doors. Another classic option is bleached furniture. Dining group – painted wooden table and chairs. An antique sideboard or a display cabinet will add a special atmosphere to your kitchen. As a decoration – bundles of fragrant herbs hung on the walls, wicker baskets, clay jugs.
Provence Bedroom
Light walls, painted wood bed or wrought iron bed. In this case, the metal can also be painted or coated with a special compound that creates an aging effect. There are homespun rugs on the floor. Bed linen, curtains and bedspreads are floral on a white background. There are dry flowers in vases.
