Biography of Peter Dranga
The future musician was born on March 8, 1984 (Gift to women!) In a Moscow musical family.
Parents
Peter’s parents are accordionists:
- father – Dranga Yuri Petrovich, professor at the Gnessin Academy of Music, People’s Artist of Russia, Laureate of All-Union and international competitions, by nationality – Greek;
- mother – Elena Kirillovna, a former student of Yuri Petrovich Dranga;

From the age of five, under the influence of his father, an accordionist, Petya began to study the accordion. The father became the first teacher for the boy. A year later, Peter entered the music department, accordion class at the Moscow Children’s Art School named after Svyatoslav Richter, and the next year he entered the first grade of a secondary school.
First win
Peter’s first success came at the age of twelve! In 1996 he became a laureate of the VI Moscow Open Accordion Competition, and in October of the same year he became a laureate of the International Accordion Competition in Castelfidardo, Italy. These competitions were followed by others, in which Dranga took first places.
In addition to the accordion, the artist mastered acoustic and bass guitars. As a teenager, he began to create arrangements of classical compositions. Peter played classical music, punk rock, art rock, grunge, as well as music of other styles and trends.
The victories of the young virtuoso followed one after another. First, Dranga won the jury of domestic competitions and festivals, and then foreign ones.
China, Italy, Spain applauded the Russian accordionist. All these victories did not bring money. As a result, Peter, who had already performed at concerts of the Russian Culture Foundation, got a job as a cleaner in the aquarium salon of the Orbita cinema.
“Torra”
After graduating from secondary school, Dranga entered the Gnessin Music College and in 2000 organized his own band “Torra”. In the evenings, the guys had rehearsals and performances, and in the afternoon Peter studied at the music school. After graduating from college, he entered the Gnessin Academy, where his father worked.
Soon the “Torra” collective was transformed from vocal-instrumental to instrumental. But neither a resounding success nor money came out, and “Torra” ceased to exist.
The North Caucasus
To earn a living, in the evenings the musician entertained the audience in the capital’s restaurants, bars and clubs by playing the guitar and the accordion. But this work did not bring good earnings.
In 2002 Dranga, in search of earnings, decided to go on a “voyage” to the North Caucasus, where the audience is much more generous than in large cities of Russia. So the musician was able to earn decent capital.
Success
Returning to Moscow, Peter opened a small music studio and created a new collective “Overdrive”. In September 2002, the first tour of the musical and instrumental group took place, which was crowned with success.
When the famous parodist Alexander Peskov saw the musician’s performance, he immediately invited Peter to perform in his show. With touring concerts of Peskov, Peter toured all the big cities of Russia, performed in the USA and Italy.
His name becomes famous, the first fans appear, which is facilitated by the artistry and bright appearance of the young musician. Then there were offers to perform between numbers in concerts of such stars as Oleg Gazmanov, Dmitry Kogan, Patricia Kaas.
Soon Petr Dranga will perform with his solo programs. Now he does not need to “warm up” the audience at other people’s concerts. In December 2004, the musician performed at the Kremlin’s Faceted Chamber at the Presidential New Year’s Eve.
In 2007, Peter became one of the participants in the show of the TV channel “Russia” “Dancing on Ice”. Paired with the famous figure skater Oksana Grischuk, he took 3rd place.
In 2008, Peter Drang’s debut album “23” appeared, which included the musician’s most popular hits, most of which were music written by him.
On November 8, 2009, Peter’s concert took place in the State Central Concert Hall “Russia”, dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Peter Dranga, in which not only the hero of the occasion himself took part, but also his eminent guests:
Alexandra Pakhmutova, Joseph Kobzon, Chulpan Khamatova, Evgeny Mironov, Nadezhda Babkina, Valeria, Nikolai Baskov, Dima Bilan, Igor Butman, Efim Shifrin and others.
Dranga is not only a musician, but also a producer. He is the founder of the Dranga Music Management Company, which creates and promotes music and works of young and talented composers and authors.
More familiar to the Russian public for his virtuoso playing the accordion, Dranga has recently been actively pursuing a solo career as a singer. Performs compositions in both Russian and English.
Since 2015, the musician has been taking part in the show “Just the same” on Channel One. Reincarnated as Valery Meladze, Eminem, Vladimir Kristovsky, Enrique Iglesias, Vyacheslav Tikhonov, Serega.
