- The women are twice as likely to experience incontinence as men because of their anatomical features, pregnancy, childbirth and menopause.

Risk factors
- Physical inactivity.
- Obesity. The extra weight puts constant pressure on the bladder and pelvic floor muscles, weakening them.
- Smoking. A chronic cough can cause urinary incontinence or make it worse.
