Today’s 20-year-olds are surprised: how did we manage not to get bored when there were no computers, no smartphones, no tablets, or even spinners? We decided to remember what the children were doing so cool and exciting some 30-XNUMX years ago.
Remember this one? We were ready to bounce through a regular elastic band for hours! Two held, the third (or even the team) jumped. They jumped in different ways: with a turn, with a cross, even patterns made of elastic band were twisted with our feet. All this at different heights, from the ankles to the neck. Of course, not everyone could bear the latter. The cost of an error is expensive: you had to get into place holding the rubber band.
What are the benefits: the game, as we now understand, perfectly developed endurance, coordination of movements. I also had to train perseverance, because jumping wisdom cannot be mastered with a swoop! It took a lot of practice. And a good memory is still needed. The rules of the game are quite complex.
Why did they forget: remember when you generally held a similar rubber band in your hands. On the farm, she is useless. And who will show the game to the child, if not you?
No, now you can still see cages with numbers on the promenade near kindergartens. But rarely. In the courtyards, the classics are no longer drawn. It’s a pity. After all, there was a whole wisdom: first, hit a flat pebble in the desired cell. Some even had shoe polish cans filled with sand. They flew better. And then you also need to jump without errors, as if landing on the numbers, and God forbid, past the cage!
What are the benefits: development of coordination of movements, training of the vestibular apparatus – everything was in this wonderful game.
Why did they forget: there is simply nowhere to draw classics. There are cars in the yard. On the playgrounds there is a special coating that perfectly protects against injuries, but you can’t draw anything on it.
The courtyard noisy gang was divided into two teams: some kicked out, others dodged a flying ball. They hit you with a ball – if you please leave the site and go to the rank of spectators. Whoever lasted longer is the king. Excitement, fun!
What are the benefits: bouncers perfectly pumped both endurance, and reaction speed, and coordination of movements. Team spirit, again, a competitive moment.
Why did they forget: firstly, again, nowhere. You don’t run around among the parked cars. And if you get into the mirror? The head will be torn off. Secondly, it is very difficult to assemble a large enough team. So you let a six-year-old child go for a walk alone? That’s the same. And third, the obsession with child safety played a role. What if someone gets a ball in the head? In fact, there is nothing wrong with it, not with a stone, but with a light ball. But it is easier to prohibit than to console a child who has received a slap in the face.
In different places this game was called differently: boyars, chains. But the essence is the same: two teams, children line up opposite each other in a chain, holding hands, utter magic words, and … One of the “attacking team” runs to the other, trying to cut the enemy’s chain and break it. If you succeed, you take one of the alien team with you. If not, you yourself remain in the captivity of the enemy.
What are the benefits: this is not just physical activity for you, by the way. After all, you need to choose where to crash in order to be more likely to break the chain. Logic, calculation, strategy and tactics! And teamwork again.
Why did they forget: for the same reasons as the bouncers. Nowhere, with no one, it is traumatic. You can break the chain so effectively that you hurt your knees. But it’s fun. But this is no longer an argument.
There is a leader, there is a team. The presenter reads a rhyme: “The sea is worried – one, the sea is worried – two, the sea is worried – three, a sea figure, freeze on the spot.” Or not marine, but sports, birds – there can be any theme. While the rhyme is being played, the participants move. They freeze at the word “freeze”. The presenter bypasses the dead, touches one of them, and here it was necessary not to blunder: to show in motion who you had conceived. And the host had to guess. If you guess wrong, he remains the leader and moves on to the next one. You guessed right – the player and the presenter switch places.
What are the benefits: just imagine what a revelry for fantasy! Here and plastic, and artistry, and shrewdness, and creative thinking. The speed of thought – after all, you need to come up with something quickly, right on the go. And what a load for muscles in statics! We didn’t take comfortable positions, remember?
Why did they forget: unclear. Maybe the children have forgotten how to freeze in one position for a long time? Maybe there is no company? Or maybe they just have no one to tell about the game? We confess – we have no answer.
In the hands of the presenter – not necessarily a ring. Maybe an ordinary pebble. But for us this is the most real ring. The rest are holding their palms with a boat so that it is not visible whether there is something in their hands or not. The “ring” goes to one person. But first, the presenter bypasses everyone, pretending to put the coveted ring in the palms of everyone. And then he says: “Ring, ring, go out on the porch!” The one who got it must run away. And the rest – to catch him. This is a bustle!
What are the benefits: the game teaches you not only to act quickly and decisively, but also to keep your face. After all, you need not to give yourself away by receiving a ring. Trains discernment: try to guess by the faces of others who received the ring and who needs to be caught.
Why did they forget: the game is good for a large company. Collecting such in the fresh air, as we have already found out, is difficult. The room is cramped for her. If only the gym … But where can I get it for an evening walk.
Decently we sit down in a row. It doesn’t matter what. It’s good if there is a shop. No – the side of the sandbox, a log, old car tires will come off. And we put our ears on alert: for the split second that the ball flies towards you, you must understand whether the object whose name the host shouted when throwing the ball is edible or not. If yes, you need to catch the ball. If not, fight back. Fucked up – take the lead.
What are the benefits: invaluable speed of reaction. And vocabulary. You never know, suddenly a neighbor knows some cunning name for something tasty. Or, conversely, tasteless. And he develops the ability to accept his personal defeat with dignity.
Why did they forget: is also unclear. You don’t need a lot of space to play. Maybe it’s the company again?
Of course, these are not all games. There is also “Stream”, “7 pebbles”, “Cossacks-robbers”, knightly battles … Yes, a lot more. But playing them with mom is boring, two or three, too. In addition, under the constant hail of “do not run”, “hit”, “do not shout” you can hardly enjoy the game. You know, it seems our children are too lonely now. So they chat more often on social networks than in real life. Yes, they sit in toys – no one is needed there, except for a virtual adversary.
