Second prenatal visit (4th month of pregnancy)

It includes a general examination with: weight gain, uterine height measurement, listening to heart sounds, blood pressure measurement. To watch closely! Because hypertension interferes with good vascularization of the placenta, and is therefore particularly dangerous for the fetus as for the mother. An examination of the cervix is ​​also done. This consultation will be followed by a more in-depth interview called the 4th month interview. The goal: to let you talk about your pregnancy and your possible difficulties. This is also the time to ask the questions that bother you, even the most bizarre!

Fourth prenatal visit (6th month of pregnancy)

No specific examination this time, but a slightly different “questioning” during this 4th medical consultation of the pregnancy: your doctor is now closely interested in the movements of Baby that you must now feel.

Tip: Try to take note of the new sensations you have when your baby starts to move. With practice, you may not remember it at the time of the consultation!

During this visit, the classic exams will also follow: weight, heart sounds, blood pressure measurement. Your doctor will wear a special attention to the examination of the cervix in order to detect a possible threat of premature delivery. Finally, he will prescribe several biological examinations: serology for toxoplasmosis, search for albumin in the urine. If you are at risk for diabetes, you will need to have a Induced Hyperglycemia test by absorption of 75 g of glucose.

Sixth and seventh antenatal visits (8th and 9th month of pregnancy)

Last checks before the big day! The doctor will assess the baby’s weight using the fundal height. He will also check his position for the delivery: in principle he should come head first. A radiopelvimetry may be necessary, especially if the child presents by breech: it is a simple x-ray, absolutely harmless to the fetus, which makes it possible to measure the dimensions of the pelvis. During the 6th consultation, will also be checked the serology of toxoplasmosis if you are not immune, irregular agglutins in case of rhesus negative and albumin. Your doctor will do a vaginal swab to check for streptococci. Finally, he will give you a prescription with tests to do for the anesthesiologist and tell you when to make an appointment.
