Obesity in our minds

Once “the fattest teenager in Britain” 19-year-old Melissa Jones was able to defeat the disease that was destroying her. At the age of 17, the girl decided to lie on the surgical table and immediately lost 139 kg. Now Melissa confesses that she curses the day when this thought occurred to her. She dreams of regaining the lost pounds and her former life.

At the age of 17, Melissa already weighed 215 kilograms. Everyone in her family was overweight. At the age of 15, doctors began to warn the girl about the threat of a heart attack. The girl tried to diet more than once, but it did not help – the daily amount of calories consumed was 15000 (while the norm for the average woman is only 2000 calories).

“I only felt happy when I ate. At one time, I ate about 8 Mars bars, 10 bags of chips, a few sandwiches and something from fast food. I spent all my pocket money on groceries, ”Melissa recalls.

Desperate, the girl went to the doctor. She became the youngest British woman to undergo stomach reduction surgery.

After the operation, Melissa lost a lot of weight and now weighs 76 kg, but still wears baggy clothes to hide the folds of excess skin on her body.

“My insurance did not include surgery to remove excess skin. And I myself would never have found £ 20 for this procedure, ”says the patient.

After the operation, Melissa could only eat small meals. For the first three months, she ate only fruit juice and melted butter and lost 12 kilograms a month. At first, her self-confidence increased. She got a new job and bought herself new clothes, and her weight continued to plummet. Over time, the girl began to suffer from stomach pains and persistent diarrhea. She was tormented by the thought that someone might see her body, which by that time had formed many folds.

“I hope people read my story and understand that gastro-surgery is not a miracle cure. I wish I tried to lose weight through exercise and a healthy diet. I know it was an operation to save my life, but complications torment me so much that I feel no better than before, ”admits Melissa.

Obesity has long been a disease of the century. From this ailment, a person develops many diseases, in addition, even a sad ending is possible. So, it became known that the fattest man on the planet could die if he did not urgently undergo surgery.
