PSYchology

When I have a sufficient break between flights, I stop by a cafe where there is Wi-Fi and do work for the university. Today was the same. Reflecting on the results of the last session, I suddenly remembered the morning meeting on the threshold of a cafe.

I parked the car and was about to go to a cafe, when a man of unkempt appearance appeared in front of me, with a black eye and a persistent fumes, and with a pitiful look began to ask for money. She calmly refused and went to a cafe. I must add that I never feel any emotions about these characters — I just always calmly say that I will not give money.

And now this meeting has surfaced against the backdrop of reflections on the Black and White Sea exercise — and can my attitude towards this man be positive? The idea came to look at the situation from the third or fourth position.

From the point of view of getting money, he earns in this way, which means that his request for money can be regarded as an application for a job. And in this case, I act as an employer. I have the right to either accept (give money) or not hire him (refuse the request to give money). It became funny. And the attitude inside has changed from indifferent to positive.

After finishing work and having lunch, I go out to the car. And here again this hired worker!!! I have a wicked smile on the inside. He again with his statement 🙂 And instead of the traditional answer, I give him calmly with a smile, looking straight into his eyes: “You know, I think you need to look for another employer!” What happened next was incredible! All of his pitiful air just vanished. He looked at me with a completely understanding clear look and said in a completely even tone: «Good.» Turned around and walked towards another passerby!!! And already from the back I heard all the same plaintive song of his about the fact that it is absolutely necessary for him to get money for bread!

I get into the car, wait for it to warm up, and watch how he approached two more and, after the last appeal, suddenly turns in my direction (the passer-by has already moved away from him) and with a triumphant look showed me the bill he was given! I smiled and nodded in response.

In essence (taking actions), this person is no different from any sales manager. He has a goal — to earn a certain amount of money (we will not touch on the moral aspect now). He does a certain number of actions to achieve the desired result. And he does not back down until this result is achieved! So it turns out that even such a seemingly morally lowered person has a lot to learn. In everything you can find a positive moment!

The mood is great. Mentally thanked him for the lesson! And myself, that I study at the best University! What is Distance and what can I do to improve.
