If your tonometer regularly shows values below 100/60 mm Hg. Art. (the indicator for men, for women it is 95/60), then you suffer from hypotension. It can be an independent disorder and a symptom of other diseases, for example, abnormalities in the thyroid gland and adrenal glands, cardiovascular and nervous systems. The root cause is sometimes duodenal ulcer, hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, anemia, dystonia, slow metabolism.

Hypotension is more common in young women, and in some cases the body adapts to low pressure, the problem only makes itself felt under heavy loads. The main symptoms are dizziness, drowsiness, irritability, headaches and discomfort in the heart, body temperature is below 36 degrees. The malaise is especially noticeable in the cold season. In order not to depend on the vagaries of the weather, you need to follow 7 rules:

sleep for at least 8 hours. This is a necessity for hypotensive patients. You can’t get out of bed abruptly. First you need to sit down without taking your feet off the bed, and only after 1-2 minutes rise. This time is required for blood circulation to improve. You can even do morning exercises lying down;

eat fractionally. Ideally 5-6 times. Meals should not be plentiful, since overeating leads to the fact that blood rushes to the organs of the abdominal cavity, the vessels of the brain at this time lack oxygen;

breakfast. You can and even need to have a cup of coffee, eat a sandwich with butter and cheese, or with salted fish. Salt and fat increase blood pressure. But you shouldn’t increase your caffeine dose. One cup of espresso or Americano is enough;

to be outdoors more, sleep with the window open, at work regularly ventilate the office;

give up tight clothes – it fetters blood vessels. Turtlenecks and sweaters with a high collar, stretch jeans should be prohibited;

do not forget about feasible physical activity. We are not talking about exhausting workouts, as they, on the contrary, can lead to a sharp drop in pressure. Walking, short-distance running, swimming are good choices. If you have to sit for a long time during the day, change your position so that blood circulation is not disturbed. Get up and take at least a few steps;

train blood vessels. A contrast shower will help with this. It must be taken at least once a day.

Emergency Assistance

Signs that cannot be ignored are palpitations, darkness before the eyes, nausea. These are the harbingers of fainting. If you feel at least one of them, try to sit down, lower your head below your knees, breathe regularly, but shallowly.

If the person who is next to you feels bad, lay him down. Raise his legs slightly, unbutton his clothes to breathe easier. Spray the victim’s face with water. After fainting, give a cup of sweet tea or coffee.

Good to know

Tea and coffee increase vascular tone, but their effect is temporary. With reduced pressure, you can take a tincture of ginseng, Chinese magnolia vine, belladonna extract. If hypotension is a consequence of another medical condition, it is important to start treating it.
