Liver detox after the holidays

Combine fatty foods with fiber. Already on New Year’s Eve, try to at least slightly reduce the load on the liver. If you are already tempted by a pork knuckle or a baked turkey, take not fried potatoes for a side dish, but a salad of fresh vegetables.

Chew the herbs. Make sure that parsley and dill on the table are not only a decoration for mimosa and Olivier salads. Greens contain coarse fiber, which helps to quickly neutralize harmful substances that have entered us along with food and alcohol. And also any greens contain calcium in the most assimilable form, it contains a lot of vitamins (all this is washed out of our body under the influence of alcohol).

Drink fresh juices. Waking up with a headache on the morning of January 1, do not drink coffee (and certainly do not get hungover – gastroenterologists strongly advise against this). Treat with freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable juices. For example, apple juice with pulp is almost pure pectin, which binds and removes the toxic effects of libation from the body, plus vitamins and antioxidants. Carrot and orange juice are also good – they will also help cleanse the intestines, patch up the liver and replenish the lost supply of vitamins and minerals.

Eat apples. For the aforementioned reason, the legendary “two apples a day – and a doctor is not needed” should become your daily norm on holidays.

Drink water. There will be a lot of different liquids on the table, but do not forget about clean non-carbonated water, which must be present on the festive table. The fact is that alcohol not only has a diuretic effect – it dehydrates cells. It is dehydration that is one of the reasons for the appearance of unpleasant symptoms of alcohol poisoning.

Have a two-day diet after the holidays. Both those who are healthy and those who have liver problems will not be hurt by a sparing diet (rather, it can be called fasting days) immediately after the holidays. On January 1-2, do not “finishing up”, but cook yourself some vegetables, make tea with chamomile or mint instead of coffee, include low-fat dairy products in your diet. If you have problems with the pancreas, do not forget about enzymes – pancreatin will help to cope with the heaviness in the stomach.
