Can the wedding dress be washed?

The practice of second rentals of wedding dresses shows that they are being washed, and quite successfully. Can you do it yourself? What dry cleaners do is likely to be done at home.

To do this, you just need to know the rules for removing difficult stains, because what just does not get on the dress on the wedding day: champagne spray, cake, pollen from flowers, cosmetics, dust or dirt from the road, and just someone can step on the bride’s hem of the guests. How to remove difficult spots?

  • dust and green traces of grass on the hem must be carefully washed with soap foam;
  • yellow spots from sweat on the corset are removed with a weak solution of soda;
  • greasy stains are gently wiped with nail polish remover before washing.

Well, the most effective assistant in the fight against all types of organic pollution is hydrogen peroxide. Difficult spots need to be wetted with regular medical peroxide, but this method is not suitable for colored outfits: peroxide can whiten them.

How to wash a wedding dress at home

If it’s scary to entrust a chic wedding dress to a typewriter, then you can wash it with your hands. This will take a lot of time and effort – it will be difficult to rinse a voluminous dress by hand, but this method is the most gentle.

Can a wedding dress be machine washable? This option is acceptable if you follow the following rules:

  • put the outfit in a special bag for washing delicate items;
  • apply a shortened cycle with a temperature not exceeding 40 ° C;
  • remove complex stains first, because with a delicate wash at low temperatures, they simply will not go away;
  • use a gentle spin.

Sometimes it is advised not to wring out the dress in a typewriter, but this is a wrong approach. The weight of the wet fabric will pull the entire fabric downward, which can severely deform the hem of the dress. With gentle spinning in a centrifuge, nothing bad will happen to the outfit if you first set a small or medium number of revolutions.

Washing in a typewriter is efficient and quick, but it is better not to risk it if the dress is richly decorated with beads or sequins: in the process, they can leave puffs on thin materials such as silk, chiffon or organza, which will then be impossible to remove.

Which washing option to choose – in a machine or by hand is not so important, the main thing is to handle the outfit with care. The efforts will pay off: the dress will look perfect!
