Fish should be on everyone’s table. Let’s see if it is possible for a nursing mother to fish and in what form. The health of both the woman and her child depends on this. Not all types of fish, some cause allergies or poisoning.

What kind of fish can you eat while breastfeeding?

Fish is rich in vitamin D, fatty acids, iodine and proteins. It is well absorbed by the body of a nursing mother, normalizes stool, strengthens the cardiovascular system, has a beneficial effect on the kidneys, and improves mood.

A nursing mother can eat red fish if there is no allergy

Of all types of fish, lean varieties should be preferred. It is allowed to eat both river and sea fish, but in small quantities. Just 50 grams of the product 2 times a week is enough to fully provide the body with everything it needs.

Fish varieties for a nursing woman:

  • herring;
  • mackerel;
  • hake;
  • salmon;
  • salmon.

Red fish is introduced in small quantities, as it can cause allergies. Start with a 20-30 g portion, no more than 1 time per week.

It is also worth giving up salted, dried and dried fish. It contains a lot of salt, which leads to swelling and impaired kidney function. In addition, salt alters the taste of milk, so the baby may refuse to breastfeed.

Fried fish is also banned. With prolonged heat treatment with oil, practically no nutrients remain in it.

Lactating women who have had food allergies in the past should avoid any fish for the first 6–8 months after childbirth. After that, the product is injected in small portions, carefully observing the child’s reaction. If rashes appear or the baby begins to sleep restlessly, then the new dish should be canceled.

A slave is very useful for a nursing mother, she must be present in the diet. But you need to use permitted varieties, prepare dishes correctly, and do not exceed the permitted rate.
