Infectious Wuhan walks! Why no one else gets sick in the homeland of the coronavirus while the world is covered by the second wave of the pandemic

This year, everyone found out about the Chinese city of Wuhan – it was from there that a dangerous disease called coronavirus began its march across the planet. Today we await with horror that we will be quarantined again, while the Wuhan people calmly go to the movies, are not afraid to dine in restaurants and are already planning New Year’s holidays with might and main.

Infectious Wuhan walks! Why no one else gets sick in the homeland of the coronavirus while the world is covered by the second wave of the pandemic

Restrictive measures are being introduced in Moscow since Monday: people over 65 are asked to stay at home, and large companies are asked to switch to remote work. In Spain, bars and restaurants are open only a few hours a day, in the UK you cannot get together with groups of more than six people, in the USA the situation is no better. The coronavirus does not allow us to finally exhale and forget about the difficulties of the past seven months.

The most amazing thing (funny, sad, ironic – underline any word) in this situation is that in the city of Wuhan, from where the deadly procession of COVID-19 began, life is in full swing.

Today, mass events are held there quite calmly, all entertainment venues in the city are open as usual and there are no more bans. Except, of course, masks – but we all have to live with them for a long time.

An illustration of all this is a snapshot that has already spread across the web. In the frame, thousands of people crammed into the pool, all swim on inflatable rings and have fun accompanied by a DJ performance.

In order to allow themselves such behavior, the residents of Wuhan unconditionally followed all security measures – they simply sat at home and did not go outside again.

As they entered the apartments on January 23 (the beginning of quarantine), they left there on April 8.

A couple of months before the lockdown was lifted, one person from each apartment was allowed to leave the residential complex for a maximum of two hours. Everything! Now let’s remember how many times we ran out quickly to get bread to the store or take a walk with the dog.

In the middle of spring, the 11 million population of the city gradually and very carefully began to return to their former life. First of all, public transport started working, shopping centers and… registry offices were opened.

People waited until it would be possible to go to work (yes, these are the Chinese), but trouble came when they were not expecting it – on May 12, six new cases of COVID-19 infection became known. In a matter of days, Wuhan was again quarantined, and the government urgently conducted (!) Universal testing. The flash was extinguished.

During the three summer months, all establishments and enterprises were opened in the city – night markets, cinemas, restaurants and cafes were opened. Social distance operates almost everywhere – through one.

The only exceptions are the clubs and the aforementioned pool, where the parties thundered all over the world took place. The organizers do not hesitate to say that they offered the girls tickets for half the price – if only there were more people.

How can one not be indignant? And do not be alarmed … Logically, one sick person is enough for the covid wave to collapse again. But statistics show that no new cases of coronavirus have been recorded since mid-May.

It’s not a miracle at all, but rather about people who do not want to stay at home anymore. Therefore, they unconditionally wear masks (with the exception of disorderly party-goers), regularly disinfect not only their hands, but also shoes, constantly check their temperature and, at the first symptoms, isolate themselves for several days.

The summer of 2020 turned out to be very good for the residents of Wuhan
