They have been experimenting with beer aging for a long time; brewers are always looking for new flavors of this drink. From the results of their new searches – aging of beer under water.
Croatian winery Coral teamed up with the Pivovara 8 brewery to create an underwater-aged beer. Proponents of this method argue that it helps the contents of the bottles ripen faster, making the final beverage taste better.
Thus, beer, bottled in 750 ml bottles, was immersed in the Adriatic Sea near the island of Pag, where it stayed for 180 days at a depth of 6 meters.
– We submerged 30 bottles for the experiment, and by the end of the year we plan to send 500 more bottles under water, – says the founder of Coral Wine Marko Duševič… – We believe that the sea greatly changes the taste of beer for the better. This is only part of our project, as there are currently 100 different types of wines from 30 wineries in the sea.
Of course, in addition to the taste, the appearance of beer bottles also changes, they are covered with shells and algae, resembling real works of art, perfect for a special occasion.
