How to replace natural yogurt during fasting

If you are used to drinking yogurt regularly, then avoiding it can be a problem during strict fasting. However, there is a way out – soy yogurt. Of course, it is almost impossible to buy it in our stores, so you have to tinker and prepare such a product yourself. Soy yogurt is made based on soy milk.

Soy milk is already a much more frequent guest in our supermarkets. However, you can simply take the soybeans, soak them in boiling water for a few hours, and then strain. Soy milk is ready! Now let’s take a step-by-step process of making yogurt:

  • Heat soy milk to 45 ° C;
  • Put in the leaven;
  • Keep the temperature 40-45 ° С for 5-6 hours;
  • If desired, you can add a little starch or agar-agar to make the yogurt thicker;
  • Refrigerate yogurt before use.

Always use a sterile spoon for starter culture, otherwise you will spoil the product.

By the way, it is not necessary to look for a replacement for regular natural yoghurt. If you don’t have the opportunity to buy it in the store, you can make such yoghurt yourself. To do this, you can use a yogurt maker, a slow cooker, or do without a special device. Also, to make homemade natural yoghurt, you need a starter culture, you need to buy it once, and then use homemade yogurt as a starter culture. A home-made product will be even better than a store-bought one.
