How to sew a curtain tape to tulle correctly?
For work, you will need a tape, the color of which matches the color of the curtains, scissors, an iron, a sewing machine, threads and a needle. To hem the tulle, you need to choose a transparent tape that will not stand out against the general background.
To correctly sew the curtain tape to the tulle, you need to carefully perform all stages of the work.
Sewing tape instructions:
- Preparation – cut the braid, the strip should be 10 cm longer than the width of the product, iron the ribbon, the shrinkage is up to 3 cm per meter, put and iron the fold of the upper edge of the curtain. Connect the details of the product so that the edge of the tape protrudes 3 mm beyond the edge of the tulle hem.
- The main step is to sweep and then sew the top seam, firmly connecting the tape and the curtain, and then, directing the line in the same direction, repeat the procedure with the bottom edge.
- Completion of work – pull up the laces and fix with knots, forming the desired drapery folds.
If you have chosen a wide braid with three or four laces, you need to sew each row. The threads should not be allowed to grab the movable strings. This will disrupt the mechanism for adjusting the width of the product.
Is it possible to hang tulle on the window, fastening it to the curtain tape?
The curtain tape is not designed to hold dense, heavy fabric on the anchorage. However, it is great for fixing lightweight airy tulle fabrics and has many positive qualities:
- simplifies the process of making curtains;
- makes it possible to create models of products with various draperies;
- increases the aesthetics of the product;
- allows you to adjust the material to the width of the window.
To make the finished tulle curtain look attractive, when choosing, you should give preference to a transparent tape of the same shade as the base of the future product.
