How to make frosted glass at home

For the manufacture of a matte surface, in addition to the glass itself, you will need additional materials and simple tools:

• Matting paste or spray paints.
• A stencil is necessary in the case of not solid matting, but when creating an image or pattern.
• Alcohol for surface degreasing.
• Adhesive for bonding the stencil to the surface.
• Spatula for applying paste.
• Scotch tape.
• Gloves, soft cloth.

Below are some ways to get frosted glass from the comfort of your home.

1. Matting paste. We remove dirt and dust with a rag, degrease the surface to be matted. When using a stencil on its reverse side, distribute the glue and carefully glue it to the glass surface. Places that do not need to be painted are best sealed with tape or foil. Apply the paste with a special spatula in several layers. After drying, we collect the remaining paste in a jar (it is reusable), wash the surface with warm water or wipe it with a damp cloth.
2. Aerosol paints. With the help of multi-colored paints, you can decorate any object, create a festive atmosphere. In the case of using a stencil, the preparation process is the same as with the paste. And matting is faster and easier: shake the can and spray the paint evenly over the surface. After each applied layer, let the paint dry and apply the next one, repeat 3-4 times.
3. Matting film. A special film is glued to the glass on the back side, and it takes on an opaque appearance. However, this method does not give the desired matte effect.
4. Sandblasting method. A special device is sold in stores, but you need to learn how to use it. It should also be borne in mind that approximately 3 mm of glass is lost during sanding, so this method is suitable for thick glass.
