How to iron linen – available rules

Why do you need to iron linen and clothes? There are two good reasons why this should be done: good looks and good hygiene. How to iron your linen correctly: temperature recommendations and basic ironing rules.

Before you start ironing, you need to sort all the items of linen and clothing according to the composition of the fabrics. For each type of fabric, there is a specific temperature mode for heating the iron. On clothes and underwear on a label sewn into the seam of the product, specific indicators are indicated. It is recommended to start from the lowest temperature range.

To improve the quality of ironing, you can use the steaming function provided for almost every iron model. If the thing is dry, then it is better to iron it on a damp surface. For example, you can place a clean, damp towel on the ironing board. However, this advice does not apply to fabrics that can leave streaks or stains from water.

A few practical tips on how to iron your laundry:

  • diapers and undershirts for babies must be ironed first from the wrong side, and then from the front;
  • tablecloths, bed linen can be ironed both on both sides and on one (front);
  • products with embroidery or with an applied glue pattern must be processed from the inside out;
  • it is better to iron dark clothes from the wrong side too – so as not to change the color of the product;
  • large items (duvet covers and sheets) must be carefully folded in half – this will be more convenient;
  • if an unwashed stain is found on things, there is no need to iron it, under the influence of high temperature it will “stick” to the fabric even more.

These simple tips will help make your job a little easier.

Why ironing your laundry correctly is important

In addition to the aesthetic appearance, ironing helps to make the laundry sterile. High temperatures can kill almost all pathogenic bacteria, fungal spores, dust mites. This fact is especially important if these things or underwear are used for babies or sick people.

Without knowing the specific rules of ironing, you can ruin the product. For example, if you set a temperature that is not intended for a particular type of fabric, you can accidentally leave a mark from the iron. And it will be impossible to remove it.

Ironing clothes is a whole art. But the process is quite tedious. The main result is the realization that you are a good housewife and everything in your house is perfect.
