How to get rid of an unpleasant odor in an apartment

We present a selection of useful tips and tricks of the day that will help women save time cleaning and housekeeping.

1. We think, there is no need to say that usually after you vacuum the apartment, there is a slight smell of dust (it does not matter if you have wet cleaning or dry cleaning). To get rid of this “non-Provencal” smell, we recommend, before starting vacuuming, moisten a cotton sponge with essential oil with lavender scent or another favorite scent (a few drops will be enough) and suck this piece of cotton wool into the vacuum cleaner, after that you can safely proceed to cleaning – a gentle pleasant trail is provided to you.

2. To keep your bedding scented, you can add a few drops of your favorite essential oil to the water you add to the iron when ironing. Or, for example, put a few drops on a terry mitten and throw it into a tumble dryer. Essential oils are non-greasy, so don’t worry about ruining your laundry.

3. If you need to refresh the room and fill it with a pleasant aroma, then you can dilute a few drops of essential oil with the smell of mint, orange, sandalwood or pine in water and spray the room with a spray.

Well, if you do not know how to get rid of an unpleasant odor in an apartment, for example, you want to quickly remove unpleasant smells of a cigarette or burnt food, then perfumes with the smell of vanilla or cinnamon are suitable for these purposes. A few drops of perfume need to be added to the water and also spray the room with a spray bottle.

4. To get rid of insects in the house, it is not necessary to use expensive toxic substances. Especially if you have pets, then insect repellents generally need to be used with caution or completely abandoned. Instead, add a few drops of lavender or eucalyptus-scented essential oil and spray the room with a spray bottle.

5. If you do not like air fresheners, then you can try to drop a small amount of essential oil with the scent of lavender or ylang-ylang on special aroma stones (three small aroma stones will be enough) and place these stones on a special shelf in the toilet or carefully lay them out on the cistern toilet bowl.

6. The unpleasant smell in the refrigerator can also be dealt with in no time. To do this, it is enough to moisten gauze (or a bandage folded in several layers) with a couple of drops of lavender-scented essential oil and a couple of drops of lemon juice and place this gauze on the refrigerator door. For faster results, we recommend that you periodically renew the essential oil.

7. “Refreshing” the microwave is also quite easy. To do this, take a small bowl, fill it with water, drip a few drops of essential oil with mint or lemon aroma and place the container in the microwave for 3-4 minutes. This time is quite enough to get rid of the unpleasant odor.

8. The trash bin will also smell sweet if it is thoroughly washed and dried first. And then take a gauze (or cotton pad) dipped in a small amount (a couple of drops will be enough) essential oil with lavender and tea tree scent, and place it on the bottom of the garbage container.

9. To get rid of unpleasant odors in the pipes (those who live in old apartments where there has been no repair for a long time, they will understand), it is necessary to prepare a special solution. To do this, dissolve 15 drops of lavender-scented essential oil and 15 drops of lemon-scented oil in a liter of vinegar, shake thoroughly and pour a small amount of this mixture (a few drops) into the pipes. After 5 minutes, a stream of boiling water from the tap must be put into the pipes to wash off the remnants of the composition.

By the way, this tool is also great for descaling. You need to add the composition to the kettle with boiling water and leave for 15 minutes (if the scale is strong, then you can hold the product in the kettle for about 50 minutes), then pour out the water and rinse. This procedure will help not only get rid of scale, but also disinfect the kettle (pot, ladle).

10. To clean and disinfect any surfaces, just wipe them with a soft cloth moistened with a small amount (a few drops will be enough) of a product made from vinegar and essential oils (the same composition that is used for descaling).

By the way, to disinfect and refresh the ashtrays, you can wipe them with the same acetic-ether cleaner.
