This vegetable is incredibly healthy and can easily endure temperature extremes while preserving vitamins if you know how to freeze broccoli at home. Before you put the inflorescences in the freezer, you need to prepare them a little.

Knowing how to freeze broccoli properly will keep the vegetable in shape and health.

Before you start freezing cabbage, you need to carefully prepare it. This will remove debris and preserve not only the benefits, but also the color and taste of the vegetable.

How to freeze broccoli for the winter and preserve vitamins

Stages of freezing broccoli:

  1. Choose a head of cabbage that is juicy green, without yellowness or other signs of spoilage.
  2. Separate the inflorescences from the stalk. Cut off small leaves.
  3. Thoroughly rinse the cabbage disassembled into inflorescences in running water.
  4. Prepare saline solution. Dilute 4-5 tbsp. l. table salt in 1 liter of warm water and soak the inflorescences in it for an hour. This is necessary in order to remove insects.
  5. Broccoli should be blanched, immerse the inflorescences in boiling water for 1-2 minutes, then immediately transfer to a container with ice water.
  6. Spread the blanched vegetable on a towel and let it dry completely.
  7. Prepare bags or containers for freezing, place cabbage in them, remove air and place in freezer. Turn on the “fast freeze” mode.
  8. After an hour, the containers can be put into the compartment with a more gentle regime.

It is better to use small containers or bags. This will allow you to take as many portions as needed without compromising the integrity of other packages. Broccoli can be stored in the freezer for up to a year.

How to cook frozen broccoli

It is important not only to know how to freeze broccoli, but also to cook it correctly afterwards. Unfortunately, if the technology is violated, a juicy and bright vegetable loses its taste, color and benefits. Do not defrost cabbage before cooking, boil it for 7-10 minutes in salted water. Then the inflorescences can be fried, sprinkled with oil or lemon juice.

Make a warm vegetable salad. Take 200 g of different vegetables, for example:

  • broccoli;
  • mini carrots;
  • green beans;
  • mini corn;
  • chopped bell peppers;
  • fresh champignons.

In addition, you will need vegetable oil for frying and salt.

  • boil cabbage in salted water for 10 minutes, discard in a colander, boil the rest of the vegetables in the same way;
  • cut the champignons into slices and fry until the liquid evaporates, transfer to a salad bowl;
  • fry, put each type of vegetables separately in a salad bowl;
  • salt and stir the finished dish; for piquancy, you can season it with soy sauce or lemon juice.

This salad will be an excellent side dish for meat or fish.

Preparing vegetables for freezing is not difficult at all. Correctly prepared cabbage will delight you in the winter in healthy and low-calorie dishes.
