How to dye eggs with turmeric?

Reading time – 3 minutes.

On Easter 2019, which falls on April 28, eggs are traditionally painted – they do it on the Thursday before Easter, that is, starting from April 25. There are a lot of ways to color eggs, for a change you can make eggs with turmeric. Such eggs become yellow, closer to amber, in color. Better to take white chicken eggs. At least an hour before dyeing, the eggs must be removed from the refrigerator so that by the time they are boiled in the dyeing solution, they are at room temperature. Then wash them well (with a soft sponge, for example) and degrease the surface with alcohol – this way the paint will lay down more readily and evenly.

Dyeing process:

  1. Prepare everything you need: eggs, 1 liter of water, 3 teaspoons of turmeric (5 – 6 teaspoons – for a more intense shade), optionally – 1 teaspoon of vinegar and 0,5 tbsp. tablespoons of salt.
  2. Prepare a decoction of the dye: dissolve turmeric in water, boil, add salt, let it brew for an hour, pour in vinegar.
  3. Place the eggs in the solution and boil for about 15 minutes. Take out and rinse with cold water.
  4. If you need a more saturated shade, keep it still in the solution.
  5. Grease ready-made dyes for shine with vegetable oil, decorate.
