How to clean the microwave at home
Cleaning a microwave at home seems like a simple task. But when the dirt does not give up, you have to resort to more serious methods. We check which folk tips for laundering household appliances work and which do not

The famous author of detectives Agatha Christie invented her most puzzling murders while washing dishes: she hated this household duty so much that bloodthirsty thoughts simply swarm in her head. I wonder what kind of novel the writer would spin if she lived to the time when you have to wash the microwave? I don’t know a single person who would love this activity. Yes, and this unit is usually uncomfortable – sometimes too high, sometimes too low, so that it is convenient to clean it. So it is not surprising that when washing microwave ovens, we have to deal with old stains, including petrified fat.

Special chemistry

A special detergent for washing microwaves and ovens, apparently, is able to dissolve everything. But the smell! You need to work with him not only with gloves, but also with a respirator. Otherwise, the sharp chemical stench does not allow you to breathe, your eyes water. Having sprayed foam from the spray gun on the inside of the microwave, I had to run, throwing open the window. And only after half an hour was able to return to the kitchen. Pollution, of course, dissolved and was washed off quite easily with an ordinary sponge. But I won’t risk repeating the experience: now we have a pet, a rabbit. You can’t take him to the evacuation, and it’s clearly not useful for him to breathe such muck.

Soda and vinegar

Grandmother is responsible for folk natural remedies in our family. She armed herself with baking soda and table vinegar and went to attack her microwave. Advisers from Odnoklassniki recommended pouring soda on any stains, and then pouring vinegar. Grandma complied. There was a chemical reaction, foam bubbled. The stain of fat softened and was easily scraped off with a knife. Alas, it works well only on individual spots. And if there is a large surface in the dirt, if the stains are on the walls or ceiling, it will be inconvenient to extinguish the soda with vinegar, therefore this method of cleaning the microwave does not always work.

How to clean a microwave oven at home? Put a cup of water in the oven, add three tablespoons of ordinary vinegar to it, and turn on the microwave for 3 minutes ”: after testing this recipe, the dirt softened, but the kitchen was filled with a vinegar smell that arose again and again for several more days, as soon as the microwave was turned on.

Citrus

“The peel of a lemon or orange, warmed up on a saucer in the microwave, will help remove old dirt!” – broadcast in a video with useful tips for the home. I cut off the peel from an orange and put the saucer with it in the microwave for two minutes. A pleasant citrus scent filled the house. When the timer turned off, the glass of the stove turned out to be foggy (the edges of the peel were charred). But only fresh deposits were erased. I had to turn on the unit again, adding a quarter of an orange and fresh peels. Another two minutes of warming up did not bring a visible effect. Then I took a deep bowl, squeezed the remains of an orange into it, loaded the pulp from the peel and poured water. The timer was set to three minutes. When I opened it, inside the microwave it was like in a steam room. Only it smelled not of eucalyptus, but of boiled orange (not as pleasant as fresh). And here, without any effort, I washed everything to a shine. So this way works. True, whether an orange was needed – I can not vouch. Maybe plain water would be enough…
