Red lipstick is an elegant addition to any look. You can wear jeans and a checked shirt, shorts and a light jacket, or maybe a tight sexy dress – you can choose the right shade of red for any look. Together with the leading MAC makeup artist Katya Ponomareva, the Woman’s Day editorial staff figured out how to make the perfect lip makeup using red lipstick.
Cleanse your lips with a cleanser.
Moisturizing is a must! No lipstick can look graceful on unkempt, chapped lips. Apply MAC Lip Conditioner evenly. In a matter of seconds, the surface of the lips is literally saturated with nourishing and moisturizing ingredients. An important point – before the next step, remove the excess with a cotton swab or blot with a napkin.
Apply MAC Prep + Prime Lip to your lips. This base contains paraffin, which makes the surface of the lips smoother and prevents it from spreading.
Mark your desired shape with the MAC Cherry Lip Liner. If you have difficulty using a pencil, remember the following sequence: first, the upper lip is drawn, from the middle to the corners of the lips, and then the lower one. The opposite is true – move the pencil from the corners to the center.
Now the pencil outline needs to be shaded towards the center of the lips to avoid the effect of the painted lips. Do this with a medium flat brush with a rounded tip. These brushes follow the natural line of the lips, making them easier to work with.
Using the MAC Lip Brush # 242, apply the MAC Ruby Woo Matte Lipstick, the main thing is not to go beyond the contour lines. The applied lipstick will immediately glow with a bright red color, and thanks to the texture it will lay down like velvet.
Tips
If you don’t have a moisturizing balm on hand, apply a regular nourishing cream to your lips.
If you are not using a special lip base, apply the powder on the first layer of lipstick, and then repeat and intensify the color again. This technique will make the color more stable and intense.
In the cold season, lips often crack and dry quickly. To get rid of the effect of chapped lips, use a special scrub.
