Viral strains of HPV
are responsible for most cases of cervical cancer and are spread through sexual contact.
Both drugs – Gardasil and Cervarix – block only carcinogenic types of the virus – strains 16 and 18 – the main causes of cancer. The main advantage of the drugs is that they prevent the disease before its development begins.
However, Gardasil has an advantage. It also blocks the reproduction of strains 6 and 11 of the virus, which are responsible for the development of genital warts and an abnormal Papanicolaou test (Pap test).
Effect of HPV vaccinations
The immune system is stimulated by virus particles (virus-like), which are obtained from the surface protein of HPV.
There is evidence that the vaccine generates immune memory. Observations indicate that the duration of protection from HPV will be measured in decades.
At the Prima Medica network of medical clinics, you can get vaccinated against the human papillomavirus.
