We talk about heart diseases as diseases of civilization. They are no longer isolated cases, the problem concerns a huge part of society, and this is a sign that it should not be underestimated. Mainly because the heart is one of the most important organs in our body. That’s why you need to take care of them.

The heart is located in the center of our chest, and on the right side gives way to the left lung. Hence the common misconception that it is only on the left side. It responds to all our emotional states, from joy, euphoria and love, to despair and nervousness. In such cases, the frequency of its beating is multiplied in order to deliver more oxygen to the cells.

One of the most common diseases, already included in the group of civilization, is atherosclerosis. It can lead to ischemia of internal organs due to damage to the walls of the arteries, and consequently their narrowing. The causes of this disease have not yet been fully understood. Certainly, it is affected by an improper lifestyle, improper nutrition.

We also hear more and more often about cases of heart attacks. It most often affects people over 40 years of age. People who smoke cigarettes, have high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, or have had a heart attack in other family members are at risk. A heart attack is one of the most common causes of premature death. It is very important to recognize it as soon as possible. Typically, the main symptoms are shortness of breath and chest pain, which can last about 20 minutes. In this case, you should immediately contact a doctor or call an ambulance.

With problems with the heart muscle, attention should also be paid to congenital defects and genetic burden. Very often they go undetected in the first years of life and affect our health much later. That is why prevention and regular examinations are so important. Symptoms visible to the “naked eye” may be the last call to start treatment.

As we age, our heart becomes weaker and weaker, so it is even more important to take care of it. Scientists have proven that, for example, over 50% of people over 65 suffer from hypertension. This is a natural order of things, because the older we are, the more the pressure rises, but the reasons also lie in our lifestyle. Obesity is also a very common cause.

Currently, there are a huge number of external factors due to which our heart starts to get sick and is no longer as efficient. First of all, excessive stress harms him. The more frequent it is and the longer it lasts, the worse it gets. Adding to this an incorrect diet, the use of stimulants such as alcohol and cigarettes contribute very quickly to the reduction of the efficiency of this most important muscle.

In order to effectively deal with these types of problems, you must first recognize that there is something wrong with our heart. It is very important to pay attention to the following symptoms:

— shortness of breath caused by excessive physical exertion,

– frequent, prolonged fatigue,

– nausea, fainting, loss of consciousness,

– accelerated heartbeat, so-called palpitations

– swelling of the feet, swelling under the eyes,

– blue skin

– chest pain.

If you experience these symptoms, you should immediately consult a specialist doctor, i.e. a cardiologist. It is advisable for people over 40 to have it checked at least once a year. You should also remember to regularly measure your blood pressure yourself. Ignoring these symptoms can eventually lead to a heart attack and even death.

To take care of your heart in advance, you must not forget about regular exercise. They should not force the body too much. Outdoor walks are recommended. Reducing stress is also highly recommended. It is also worth enriching our diet with fruits and vegetables as well as fish, which contain unsaturated fats, vitamins and other nutrients. It’s worth taking care of your heart today, before it’s too late.
