Hazelnuts: how to fry at home? Video

Hazelnuts, known as hazelnuts, are a favorite of many people. The huge popularity of the famous nut is not surprising: it has an unsurpassed pleasant taste, moreover, it contains a lot of protein, oil, minerals and vitamins (especially group E). If you roast the nuts, they will become fragrant and take on new flavor nuances. Heat treatment of fruits can be done at home.

How to prepare nuts for roasting

According to doctors, it is extremely dangerous to eat peeled hazelnuts by weight purchased on the market: they may contain poisonous molds that produce aflatoxins. Purchase nuts only in intact, dense shells. Prepare selected fruits for frying (roasting).

To begin with, free all the kernels and carefully sort them, without regret, discarding shriveled, unpleasant-smelling and darkened specimens. Now remove the fibrous brown shell covering the fruit for a more nutty flavor and aroma.

Do not get too carried away with hazelnuts, because they are unusually high in calories: eat only 2 tablespoons of nuts and you will be energized for the whole day. In 100 g of hazel fruits – as much as 770 kcal! Hazelnuts are superior to chocolate in energy content

Dip the hazelnuts in boiling water and blanch for 10 minutes, then discard them in a sieve or colander and let the water drain completely. Quickly peel the softened film and dry the fruits by spreading them on a towel in one layer. You should have strong, select, milky kernels.

How to fry hazelnuts at home

Toast the nuts in a heavy-bottomed cast iron skillet. Do not add any fats to it, otherwise the fruits will quickly become rancid and harmful to the body. Put the cookware on moderate heat, put the prepared kernels in one layer on it and cover with a lid. Shake the skillet from time to time and stir the nuts with a wooden spoon or spatula to heat them all over. Turn the heat to high towards the end of the frying. Heat treatment should continue for 10 minutes.

You can also fry hazelnuts in the oven or microwave. In the first case, place the nuts on a baking sheet and keep on fire for 15 minutes. From time to time (at least 3 times) open the oven door and stir the kernels. By the same principle, roast the hazelnuts in the microwave oven, only place the fruits in a heat-resistant dish and keep outside the door for no more than 10 minutes.

Store peeled kernels in an airtight, opaque container to keep out moisture, light, and bad odors. Stay nuts in the shell dry out and lose their nutritional value, so purchase hazelnuts in small portions

Always fry small amounts of nuts. You should not cook your favorite delicacy for future use: during long-term storage in tasty nucleoli, vitamins are destroyed, moreover, they risk absorbing moisture and becoming infected with a fungus.
