God Loves the Trinity: Where Does the Expression Come from

People often use this saying. This expression originated from Orthodox beliefs. In Christian culture, God is a Trinity:

  1. Father (thought).
  2. Son (a word born of thought).
  3. Holy Spirit (deeds).

Our thoughts give rise to words, words – deeds. What kind of person are you? What are your deeds? Is it from the Holy Trinity?

By the way, the Orthodox Church celebrates the Day of the Holy Trinity on the day of Pentecost – the 50th day after Easter. Usually on Sunday.

Surprisingly, you will not find the word “Trinity” in the Old Testament or in the Bible. The doctrine of the “Trinity” was introduced into Christian culture by Bishop Theophilus of Antioch in the XNUMXnd century.

The number three is often mentioned:

  • three miracles after the death of Christ;
  • Faith Hope Love;
  • three gifts of the Magi to the Christ child …

For many centuries, folk expressions have existed:

  • “I got lost in three pines”;
  • “With a song even over three seas”;
  • “They wait for the promised three years”;
  • “Bent into three deaths”
  • “Lie with three boxes.”

Remember the tales of three desires, trials, attempts. The saying “God loves a trinity” was invented by the people. It is pronounced, offering to do something a third time after two unsuccessful attempts. In churches we sign ourselves with the sign of the cross three times, etc.

The meaning of the word “trinity” is the number three, three of any object. That is, this phrase means that God loves the number three.

Three cases of salvation

There have been three cases of miraculous salvation in my life. As a child, I lived in a village, in a private wooden house. Before Easter, women rinsed washed homespun rugs in an ice-hole on the Klyazma River. The winters were frosty, and the ice was ten centimeters thick.

Mother (the kingdom of heaven to her) with a box behind her back went to the river, taking me, a five-year-old boy. She was carried away by her work, and I, accidentally slipping, fell into this cold hole. The current was about to pull me under the ice, but I miraculously emerged, and my mother managed to grab me by the collar and pull me out.

I remember how, leaving everything, she ran with me in her arms to the first houses, throwing off my wet clothes.

Another incident occurred in adolescence. In winter, my mother was in a local hospital, I was managing the house, looking after the animals. Having put the brew for pigs on the electric stove on the summer terrace, he sat down to study, forgetting about the food being prepared for the animals.

At some point, there was a loud bang in the kitchen, and I immediately smelled smoke behind the wall. Running out of the front door into the cold corridor, I saw a flaming corner of a log house. Thanks for the neighbors’ help, the house was not damaged.

The roar came from the fact that the icon of the Most Holy Theotokos “Burning Bush” (protector from fires) fell from the wall.

And the third case was in his youth. Hurrying from home to the city for a friend’s birthday, I sat down with a friend in the cab of a bread van. At the turn, the driver lost control, the car turned over several times. I didn’t get any injuries, I just got scared.

I think that the cross and the icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker put on around my neck helped me. Having reached the age of sixty, I feel that the guardian angel is somewhere near me. I believe in God, I visit the temple, I pray for my family, for my children and grandchildren.
