France and Germany introduce a new quarantine due to COVID-19

Angela Merkel announced a new quarantine in Germany, reports Reuters. The restrictions will come into effect on November 2 and will last until early December. “In November, from November 2, we need to once again strain our forces nationwide. This will be a limited tension of forces, which we will extend until the end of November, ”the German Chancellor said.

The country will close theaters, cinemas, fitness centers, beauty salons and hotels. All concerts will be canceled. Cafes and restaurants will continue to operate for take-out only.

People will have the opportunity to gather outside the home only 10 people from a maximum of 2 families. At the same time, schools and kindergartens in Germany will continue to operate.

“Our healthcare system can still deal with this problem today, but at this rate of infection, it will reach its limits within a few weeks,” said Angela Merkel.

French President Emmanuel Macron is concerned that COVID-19 is literally striding across Europe with leaps and bounds. He clarified that the measures taken in France against the spread of the virus are no longer enough, so it was decided to declare a national quarantine in France from October 30 to December 1.

The French will only be allowed to leave their home for work, shop, pharmacy, or to meet with close relatives. Bars, restaurants and shops that do not sell food and essentials will be closed.

In Germany, about 15 thousand new cases of infection are now recorded per day, in France – about 40 thousand cases.
