The total length of the river network of the Astrakhan region is 13,32 thousand km. The river network consists of 935 watercourses, more than 1000 salt and fresh water bodies. Most of the watercourses of the river network are marked by channels and branches of the Volga-Akhtuba floodplain and the Volga delta. The floodplain territory is located between the Volga and its branch Akhtuba in the Volgograd region, the area of the floodplain water area is 7,5 thousand km2.

Akhtubinsky is geographically located in the northeast of Astrakhan, on the left bank of the Volga. In terms of area, it occupies the largest, northern part of the Astrakhan region, this territory is equal to 7,8 thousand km2.
In addition to locations for fishing on the Volga, its branches are located in the area – Akhtuba, Kalmynka, Vladimirovka. On the left bank of the Akhtuba there is a Volgogorad-Astrakhan highway from which it is convenient to get to the river. The most promising places for fishing are located in close proximity to settlements – Udachnoe, Zolotukha, Pirogovka, Bolkhuny, Uspenka, Pokrovka.

Enotaevsky district

Enotaevsky is located on the right-bank part of the Volga, in the northern part it adjoins the Chernoyarsky district, and on the south side Narimanovsky.
The most “fishy” places are located near the settlements: Nikolaevka, Ivanovka, Enotaevka, Vladimirovka. At the confluence of the Enotaevka and the Volga, in the vicinity of the village of Promyslovy, they catch trophy catfish, pike, pike perch, and perch.
Locations located near the village of Rechnoye are considered promising for catching pike, zander, perch and bersh. At numerous fishing bases it is possible to rent a boat and a guide, because trolling in these places is the most effective.

Kharabalinsky district
Kharabalinsky is located on the left bank of the Volga, Akhtubinsky district adjoins its northern territory, and Krasnoyarsky district adjoins its southern side.
The most popular, promising, visited fishing place in Kharabalinsky, and indeed in the whole Astrakhan region, is the confluence of the rivers:
- Ahtuba;
- Ruin;
- Ashuluk.
The confluence of the rivers is located in the middle of the section between the settlements – Selitrennoye and Tambovka. It is at this location that you can catch trophy carp, pike perch, catfish. Not inferior in terms of the presence of trophy fish and the location between the village of Zelenye Prudy and the Poldanilovka farm. In addition to predatory fish, large bream and carp are caught at the previously indicated location.
To catch catfish, most anglers choose a site with holes in the coastal strip of Shambay Island. To catch a predator: bersh, perch, pike, pike perch, you need to go upstream from Shambay Island to Erik Mitinka.

Narimanovskiy is located on the right bank of the Volga, the Enotaevsky district adjoins its northern side, and the Ikryaninsky and Limansky districts adjoin the south side.
Among the anglers who prefer to settle down for the time of catching a predator in the Narimanov region, locations are selected on the Volga near the village of Verkhnelebyazhye. Carp is caught on the Buzan River, in the vicinity of the settlement of the same name, as well as in the Samarin and Dry Buzan erikas.

Krasnoyarsky is located on the left bank of the Volga, in the northern part it adjoins the Kharabalinsky district, and on the south side the Kamyzyatsky and Volodarsky districts.
For catfish fishing, it is preferable to choose a location on the Akhtuba River near the Janai settlement; bream, carp are caught in the confluence of the Akhtuba and the Buzan River. Large flocks of crucian carp, pike and perch live near the shores of Erik Tyurino, the area of Baklanye settlement. One of the few districts of the Astrakhan region, which received the opportunity to be located in the most beautiful place in the Astrakhan region, in the Volga delta. The northern part is adjacent to the Narimanov district, the eastern part to the Ikryaninsky district, and the western part borders on the Republic of Kalmykia.
The southeastern part of the region can be described as a territory below which reserves, floods, and the Caspian begin. Ikryaninsky district, like the eastern neighboring Limansky, received a territorial location in the Volga delta. Its northern part borders on the Narimanov, and the eastern on the Kamyzyatsky districts.
The northwestern and western parts of the Ikryaninsky district, this is more than half of the area from the entire territory, which is covered with steppe ilmens, rivers, oxbow lakes and channels. The most full-flowing of all the rivers flowing through the territory of Ikryaninsky is the Bolshoy Bakhtemir River, which is one of the many branches of the Volga.

Kamyzyak district

The Kamyzyaksky district, like the two Ikryaninsky and Limansky districts previously described in our article, is conveniently located in the Volga River Delta, which has become more attractive for fishermen and tourists. Part of its northern territory is limited by the territories of the Volga and Ikryaninsky, the eastern part of the Volodarsky districts.
The territory of the Kamyzyaksky district occupied the “lion’s” share of the Volga delta. Like most territories, in the Volga delta, it was no exception, it is indented with banks, channels, branches stretching to their mouths in the Caspian Sea.
The most popular locations in the region for catching zander, grass carp, pike and perch are located on the sections of the Kamyzyak River, or as it is also called Kizan, as well as Bakhtemir. Catfish and bream are caught on the Old Volga, Ivanchug, Tabola.

Volodarsky in its northern part borders on the territory of the Volga and Krasnoyarsk regions, which are located in the Volga delta. The eastern territory of Volodarsky borders with Kazakhstan, and the western part with Kamyzyaksky. The Astrakhan State Nature Reserve is located in the southwestern part.
Almost the entire territory of the region is a flat plain, this is especially characteristic of the southern part, the surface of the territory is indented by rivers, channels, eriks, among the waters of which a huge number of islands have formed, for this reason bridges and crossings were erected, which greatly facilitates movement through the region.
Immediately before the Volga flows into the Caspian Sea, the river was divided into a huge number of channels and branches on the territory of the region. The place where the navigable channel passes was called the Bank, and the channels that branched off from the Bank are called eriks, the channels, in turn, are divided into peals. All this is considered to be the most promising places for fishing. In the sections of the Bank, where the depths are the largest and exceed 15 m, catfish and asp are caught.
On eriks with shallower depths, here they are up to 10 m, they catch large crucian carp, trophy carp. But the peals with shallow depth and abundant vegetation became a shelter for bream and rudd, which became the object of hunting for pike and perch.

- Despite the high number of fishing bases and guest houses in the Astrakhan region, a large number may not work during the period you need, and the rest may be busy. Therefore, it is necessary to choose a location and a fishing base on it in advance, view the available information and reviews about the chosen place, call and book a check-in date.
- When collecting gear with you on a trip, you first need to learn about the methods of mounting equipment, the necessary baits, because for catching the same catfish at different times, preferences in the food base change, it can be either a locust, a green reed worm, or a frog.

from May 16 to June 20 – everywhere, with the exception of water bodies of fishery significance within the administrative boundaries of settlements, as well as in fishing areas provided for the organization of recreational and sport fishing during this period;
from April 1 to June 30 – crayfish.
