Spawning

With the summer recession, water begins to move up the river to spawning grounds. It is understood to the source of mountain tributaries, where it spawns on the main stream on a rocky-pebble bottom. Spawns in autumn. Ripens in 1-2 years. Spawning is annual, but on lakes, in case of pollution, there may be long gaps.
