A small fish of the Siberian and Ural rivers. Despite its small size, sijok is very popular with locals for its taste. Fresh tugun is distinguished by tender meat with a cucumber aroma, but loses these properties during storage. It is considered the most thermophilic among all types of whitefish. It is also called the Sosvinskaya herring, tugunk or manner. The weight of the fish is small, up to 70 grams. Tugun can be confused with vendace.
Methods for catching tugun
Tugun is caught using traditional fishing methods such as bottom, float and fly fishing. Tugun is caught with a mormyshka in winter in holes or plumb from a boat in summer. You can fish with spinning lures of the ultralight class, but bites on spinning lures are quite rare.

Places of fishing and habitat
Occurs in some rivers of the Middle Urals. The main habitat is the large Siberian rivers. Tugun can be called a lake-river form of whitefish. It migrates within the river water area, entering floodplain spills, channels and lakes for feeding. Prefers warm, quickly warming parts of the river, abundant in zooplankton.
Spawning
With the summer recession, water begins to move up the river to spawning grounds. It is understood to the source of mountain tributaries, where it spawns on the main stream on a rocky-pebble bottom. Spawns in autumn. Ripens in 1-2 years. Spawning is annual, but on lakes, in case of pollution, there may be long gaps.
