Fireplace, brazier and a cat: what Rodion Gazmanov’s dream house looks like

During the quarantine, the singer, participant of the Three Chords show, equipped a music studio in his country house. The beloved cat is not allowed to enter it.

– I moved into this house almost 11 years ago. Initially I thought that I would take a typical one, but then I realized two things. Firstly, I have a plot of irregular shape and an ordinary square box will not fit here. Secondly, there is a desire for everything to be done the way I want, so I designed the future house myself to the smallest detail.

For example, all the switches here are at a height of 88 cm from the floor, although the standard is 90 or 100. When we planned where they should be located, I went up to the wall, put my hand, and made them at that height. That is, the house is made completely for me in all the nuances.

The garage is attached to the house, because it is more convenient than a detached one, because you do not need to dress warmly to get to the car. Initially, it had no upper room, which did not look very beautiful, so they decided to make it, and the code name was given “billiard room”. But later I thought that buying a table in order to play once every six months and for this to maintain a whole room does not make sense.

For some time it was simply empty. And then we ran out of rent for the premises where we rehearsed with my musicians, and there was a move. Where to? Home, of course! At first, I temporarily placed all the equipment and tools in the “billiard room”, but when the coronavirus broke out and the isolation set in, we decided to create an online studio, since there was a huge demand for musical greetings from artists in this format. For a good sound and a beautiful picture, we bought an insulating pyramid that muffles the noise in the room, glued the walls with it, provided lighting, and now my colleagues regularly contact me to shoot a concert in this studio.

I had three components of a dream home: a fireplace, a veranda with barbecue and a cat. Sheldon is eight years old. I looked closely at two breeds, Oriental or Maine Coon, studied them and settled on the second one, because Maine Coons are beautiful and the most friendly.

Sheldon has a certain disposition, but with all this, he bites and scratches much less often than other cats. However, since it is large, it will bite once so that it will last for two years. In my presence, the cat can walk throughout the house, except for some rooms, for example, a studio and an office. Although in the second case, there are exceptions. When I work behind a closed door, he begins to beat with a crunch and roar and ask inside. We have to let in. Sheldon curls up snugly in his chair and watches me write the music.

I do not like multi-level ceilings, gold plumbing and other such things. A Russian designer can be recognized at any point by such details, for some reason it is they who have such a stamp. I like it when everything is calm in the interior, no frills. Probably, my mother brought up my taste in this regard.

By the way, she bought all the paintings in the house. For some time we lived together in a Moscow apartment, and when we parted and I moved, the pictures fit in well. My favorite is the one that hangs in the living room, it is abstract, and in it everyone sees something of their own.

In the kitchen, I wanted something like a bar counter, and the island was a kind of compromise between it and the cooking table. It allows you to engage in the process and communicate with guests at the same time. Here in the morning I read the news, make plans for the day. As it is sung in one song: “A cup of coffee and go.” This is where my cup of coffee comes in.

Maybe if I had redesigned the house, I would have made fewer balconies in it, because they are all open, and in winter you have to remove the snow with your own hands. But again, work is good. By and large, I like everything that came out here.
