Edible nicotine – a shield against Parkinson’s disease

Eating vegetables containing nicotine by 3 times can reduce the risk of developing Parkinson’s disease. This is the conclusion reached by the Seattle scientists. They are sure that if you include peppers, eggplants and tomatoes in your diet at least every other day, you can minimize the risk of an incurable disease.

The experts surveyed approximately 500 different patients diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, as well as at least 600 control people of the same age and status, on the topic of attitudes towards tobacco and taste preferences. As a result, it turned out that among those who were sick with Parkinson’s, there were almost no respondents who included vegetables containing nicotine in their diet.

In addition, the scientists noted that green pepper was the most effective vegetable to protect against Parkinson’s disease. The survey participants who used it were 3 times less likely to encounter the problem of the onset of the disease. Most likely, green pepper acted in a similar way on the body thanks not only to nicotine, experts suggested, but also to another tobacco alkaloid – anatabine, which has anti-inflammatory properties.

Recall that Parkinson’s disease accompanies the destruction of brain cells, which in normal life are responsible for movement, due to which Parkinson’s patients feel not only weakness in the muscles, stiffness of movement, but tremors of all limbs and the head. Scientists do not yet know effective methods of treating the disease. And they can only slightly improve the condition of patients. Therefore, their conclusions about the relationship between nicotine and the risk of getting sick with this ailment they see as extremely important.
